Job Description: GITAM School of Humanities and Social Sciences in hiring for Bharatanatyam Faculty in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts for Visakhapatnam CampusTeach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Bharatanatyam, covering both theoretical and practical aspects.Develop lesson plans, syllabi, and instructional materials for Bharatanatyam courses.Deliver lectures on dance theory, history, and cultural significance of Bharatanatyam.Provide hands-on dance training in Bharatanatyam to students, focusing on technique, performance, and expression.Offer guidance on choreography and performance for student recitals and university productions.Engage in scholarly research related to Bharatanatyam, classical dance forms, Indian music, and related cultural topics.Publish research articles in academic journals, present papers at conferences, and contribute to the field’s knowledge base.Stay up-to-date with current trends, scholarship, and advancements in the field of Bharatanatyam.Roles and ResponsibilitiesMentor students in their academic and artistic development.Provide individual dance coaching to help students improve their performance skills.Organize and supervise student performances, recitals, and participation in cultural events.Offer career advice and guidance on pursuing professional dance or academic careers.Assist in the organization of departmental events, festivals, and cultural programs.Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the development of academic policies and curriculum.Manage student records and track academic progress.Help with accreditation processes and ensure that dance programs meet educational standards.Organize workshops, masterclasses, and outreach programs to promote Bharatanatyam both within and outside the institution.Foster collaborations with artists, cultural institutions, and dance organizations.Contribute to building a strong Bharatanatyam community through events and performances.Education & ExperienceA Master's degree (M.A.) or higher in Bharatanatyam or a related field.A Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Bharatanatyam or Dance.Proven experience as a Bharatanatyam teacher or performer.A record of academic and/or professional achievements in Bharatanatyam.Experience in academic teaching at the undergraduate or postgraduate level (preferred).Experience in choreography, stage performance, and organizing dance events is highly desirable.Familiarity with the use of technology for virtual teaching, if applicable.
