D&E - Design Engineer - NPD and Manufacturing EngineeringAt Vijay Spheroidal Private Limited, Peenya Bangalore.Develop Products, Drive Growth, Enjoy Teamwork and Apply KnowledgeOur D&E Sr Engineer, will be responsible for developing new products, engineering the manufacturing process, bringing in technical competence in casting manufacturing. Use advanced software (CFD) for simulating the casting process. Understand tool design and tool management, develop and manage tooling strategy for part production. Key Accountabilities - Product Development and Innovation:Lead the design and development of new products, from concept to commercialization.Utilize advanced engineering tools and techniques to optimize product design for performance, cost, and manufacturability.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product designs meet customer requirements and align with business objectives.Process Optimization and Improvement:Analyze and improve existing manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.Implement innovative solutions, such as automation and lean manufacturing principles, to streamline operations.Troubleshoot production issues and provide technical support to resolve problems.Key Responsibilities - Product Development:Develop new products, engineering the manufacturing process, bringing in technical competence in casting manufacturing and machining.Collaborate with customers to understand their specific requirements and translate them into innovative product designs aligning with company vision and mission. Review of customer drawing, preparation of budget quote, release of preliminary BOM and PFD during APQP process.Preparation, Review and release of stage drawing, process documents and manufacturing checklist.Design and develop tooling strategies to ensure efficient and cost-effective production.Performing full process simulation with tooling, CAD modeling and production parameters to predict casting components, support manufacturing on foundry shop floor to address product quality concerns, such as, reduce scrap rate before or after machining, achieving and maintaining process temperatures, flow rates etc.Writing technical reports with the simulation results and findingsEvaluate solidification FEA to improve casting robustnessManufacturing Engineering:Optimize process parameters to minimize defects and maximize yield.Conduct root cause analysis of quality issues and implement corrective actions.Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs.Team Collaboration:Work closely with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and quality assurance.Mentor and guide junior engineers.Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning.What you Bring to the TableCore Engineering PrinciplesMechanical Engineering: A solid understanding of mechanics, materials science, and thermodynamics is essential for designing and analyzing mechanical components.Metallurgy: Knowledge of metallurgy is crucial for selecting appropriate materials, understanding their properties, and optimizing casting processes.Casting Manufacturing TechniquesShell Molding: Expertise in shell molding techniques, including pattern design, core making, and shell assembly.No-Bake Molding: Understanding of no-bake molding processes, including binder systems, mold preparation, and casting procedures.Green Sand Molding: Familiarity with green sand molding techniques, including sand preparation, core making, and molding procedures.Advanced Manufacturing TechniquesAdditive Manufacturing: Knowledge of additive manufacturing processes, such as 3D printing, and their applications in casting and tooling.Computer-Aided Design (CAD) and Computer-Aided Manufacturing (CAM): Proficiency in CAD/CAM software for designing and manufacturing molds, cores, and castings.Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Ability to use FEA software to simulate casting processes and predict product performance.Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD): Knowledge of CFD for analyzing fluid flow and heat transfer in casting processes.Key Performance Indicators - New product development timelines First Time Right - Methoding [ Simulation/FEA Validation] Process and product validationCost of Manufacturing - Product Profitability.
