As we expand our data infrastructure to support a global platform, we’re building a high-performing engineering team in India to power data-driven decision-making across our organization.Role OverviewWe are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to develop and maintain robust data pipelines, data models, and analytics infrastructure. You will play a key role in enabling our team to access reliable, scalable, and clean data for analytics, reporting, and product intelligence. This is a hands-on position where your contributions will directly impact how Sapience understands and supports student learning outcomes.Key ResponsibilitiesData Infrastructure & Pipeline DevelopmentDesign, build, and maintain ETL/ELT data pipelines using tools like Apache Airflow, dbt, or similarWork with structured and semi-structured data from a variety of sources including databases, APIs, and flat filesCreate and manage data warehouses and data lakes on platforms such as BigQuery, Redshift, or SnowflakeData Modeling & OptimizationDevelop and maintain efficient, scalable, and reusable data modelsOptimize query performance and ensure high data quality and reliabilityImplement data validation and error-handling mechanismsCollaboration & IntegrationPartner with product, engineering, and business teams to understand data needsCollaborate on the integration of analytics tools and dashboards (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Metabase)Ensure data governance, security, and compliance protocols are followedQualifications and Experience3+ years of professional experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar roleProficient in SQL and Python (or similar scripting language)Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools (Airflow, Prefect, etc.)Familiarity with cloud data platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure)Strong understanding of data modeling, warehousing, and normalization principlesExperience integrating data from APIs, relational databases, and flat filesKnowledge of version control (Git), CI/CD pipelines, and agile methodologiesExcellent problem-solving and communication skillsAbility to work independently and collaborate in a remote-first team environmentCompensation and Work HoursSalary: $1,000 USD per month (based on experience and expertise) Work Schedule: Full-time, aligned with Pacific Standard Time (PST)Why Join Sapience?Global Impact: Support data systems that drive educational excellence for students worldwideCareer Growth: Be part of a fast-growing organization where your contributions have a direct impactRemote Culture: Work-from-home flexibility with a collaborative, purpose-driven teamInnovation Focus: Join a data-led company investing in long-term product and platform intelligenceIf you’re excited to build data systems that fuel insight and impact in the education sector, we’d love to hear from you.
