Position Overview: As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for gathering, analysing, and interpreting data related to port operations and their impact on the coal. You will provide valuable insights on port performance, congestion, infrastructure, and regulatory changes, helping internal teams and management to make informed strategic decisions. The ideal candidate will have 3 to 5 years of experience in the shipping or logistics industry, with a strong understanding of global port dynamics and dry bulk shipping trends.Key Responsibilities:Data Collection & Analysis: Collect and Analyse data on global port activities, congestion, infrastructure, and shipping capacity specific to dry bulk markets.Port Performance Evaluation: Evaluate and report on the performance of key dry bulk ports, highlighting factors such as turnaround times, waiting times, vessel delays, and operational bottlenecks.Market Research: Conduct in-depth research on port-related developments, such as new port projects, regulatory changes, and shifts in global trade patterns that could impact dry bulk shipping.Forecasting & Reporting: Develop reports and forecasts related to port issues, identifying potential impacts on the dry bulk sector. Provide regular updates and insights to internal teams.Stakeholder Communication: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including operations, commercial, and sales teams, to communicate findings and strategic insights.Data Visualization: Create and maintain data dashboards, charts, and presentations to illustrate key trends and developments in port-related issues affecting the dry bulk market.Industry Monitoring: Stay up to date on global shipping trends, port infrastructure projects, and geopolitical events that may affect port operations.Operations: You will be supporting vessel operations, working closely under the guidance of senior members of the operations team.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Maritime Studies, Economics, or a related field.3-5 years of experience in a similar role within the dry bulk shipping, logistics, or maritime industry, with a focus on port operations and related challenges.Strong analytical skills and experience working with datasets.Proficient in Microsoft Excel, data analysis tools, and data visualization softwareExcellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.Familiarity with the dry bulk shipping market, port operations, and the global logistics landscape is a plus.
