Job Description

The Assistant Manager of Engineering is responsible for leading and developing a team of remote/hybrid engineers, under the guidance of US engineering leadership, as well as performing hands-on engineering and design work as needed. This role is responsible for the engineering activities that support Sloan USA including product design, development, CAD modeling, data and systems management, and new product introduction. The candidate should have solid technical skills in mechanical engineering, product design and manufacturing processes. This role leads and develops the engineering team, which is a team of remote workers to support the US business. This will require excellent communication and management skills, to foster a cohesive and productive hybrid team. It also requires an understanding of US business culture, industry best practices, and good change management skills.- Understand and establish priorities. Distribute work to the Engineering team based on priority, work load, and individual skills. Ensure full utilization of the available resources to maximize productivity across multiple products and activities. Ensure that delivery plans and timelines are met, keeping projects on schedule and on budget - Supervise direct reports. Give feedback on goal performance periodically and implement corrective actions to ensure employee performance. Act as a resource to reports on technical issues and provide instruction on how to perform proper engineering/business processes, analysis, or procedures. - Continually improve the productivity of the Engineering community through tactics such as best in class Engineering practice, platform approaches and re-use. Resolve technical issues and problems using best practice tools and methods across cross functional teams. (i.e. FEA, DFMEA, DOE, DFM/DFA, fault tree analysis, etc - Communicate and collaborate effectively with all levels of the organization both orally and in written fashion. Lead engineering activity with Sloan partners and design sites. Participate and lead in setting design standards across the organization - Lead and grow Sloan India Remote US support Engineering competencies to meet the needs of the US business. Mentor engineering staff for career development, retention, motivation and technical capabilities - Design complex components and assemblies with PTC CREO solid modeling software, creating necessary procedures and instructions, and all other documentation as required. Develop and document engineering specifications and material requirements as required. Process ECNs. Follow and suggest improvements to established document control procedure - Investigate new technologies to be applied to future products. Research, recommend, and implement cutting edge technologies and techniques related to product prototyping and manufacturing - Other duties and responsibilities as required.US Shift : 02:00pm to 22:30pmQualifications & Certifications- 4-year Degree in Mechanical Engineering - Prior supervisory experience preferred, with 6+ years of of product design and development experience, with strong leadership skills - Proficiency in parametric 3D Modeling, preferably with CREO software. Ability to produce supporting documentation including 2D production/proposal drawings, DFMEA, design reviews, DFM/DFA, verification test plan, tolerance studies, and FEA analysis - Strong communication skills, both verbal and written English. Experience working with US companies is a plus. - Knowledge of manufacturing practices, such as fabrication, injection molding, castings, machining, structural steel weldments - Working knowledge of materials selection for appropriate manufacturing processes and applications. - Familiarity with regulatory codes, standards and test requirements - Prototyping knowledge & experience - Experience working in a structured NPD (New Product Development ) environment.
