Job Summary: The Data Analyst will play a key role in gathering, processing, and analysing data related to commodity trading. The role involves using data-driven insights to support finance teams, optimize operations, and support decision-making. The Data Analyst will work closely with trading teams, finance, operations and other departments to provide accurate, actionable information and forecasts.Location : Kolkata / Gurgaon / MumbaiKey Responsibilities: 1. Data Collection & Management: o Collect and clean data from multiple sources, including internal trading systems, financial reports, and external databases as needed. o Maintain and update data sets related to agricultural commodities (e.g., price trends, inventory, credit exposure, risk reports, trade volumes). o Develop and manage databases, ensuring data accuracy, consistency, and integrity.2. Data Analysis & Reporting: o Perform statistical analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights relevant to financial and risk databases. o Develop and deliver business intelligence reports on financial performance, risk management, and trading performance. o Create dashboards and visualizations to help internal teams quickly understand data insights and make informed decisions.3. Data Visualization & Communication: o Develop user-friendly reports and dashboards tailored to different stakeholders, including traders, finance team, and senior management. o Communicate complex data findings in a clear and actionable way to both technical and non-technical teams. o Present findings in meetings and provide recommendations for decision-making.4. Automation & Process Improvement: o Identify opportunities for automating data collection, reporting processes, and analyses to enhance efficiency. o Implement best practices for data handling, storage, and analysis, ensuring the smooth integration of new data sources and technologies.5. Collaboration & Continuous Learning: o Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., finance, supply chain, trading) to understand data needs and provide tailored solutions. o Stay up to date with developments in data analytics technologies, and industry trends to continuously enhance analytical capabilities.Qualifications : · Education: Bachelor’s degree in data science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s degree a plus. · Experience: At least 2-4 years of experience as a Data Analyst, preferably in agriculture, commodity trading, or a related industry. · Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with agricultural markets and commodity trading is a plus, with an understanding of factors influencing price volatility (e.g., weather, trade policies, geopolitical events).· Technical Skills: o Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, Excel, R, or Python. o Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). o Knowledge of statistical techniques, predictive modelling, and machine learning is a plus. o Familiarity with database management systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).Soft Skills: · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail. · Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex data insights clearly. · Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. · Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.Key Competencies: · Data-driven mindset with a passion for leveraging data to drive business outcomes. · Critical thinking skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team. · Ability to translate complex data insights into actionable business strategies.
