Category Manager (Medical Consumables & Surgical) Location – Gurgaon| Full time | UK Client Facing roleOrganizational Overview Tektology is an international health innovation & strategy consultancy. Our interests lie in the impact of consumer-driven care, and the huge rise in technologies that free clinicians, empower consumers and disrupt healthcare delivery for the better.As a Category Manager (Medical Consumables & Surgical) based in Gurgaon, I ndia, you will be responsible for providing strategic guidance and category management expertise to ensure the client’s procurement strategies align with industry best practices. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and be instrumental in managing key product categories, sourcing strategies, and supplier relationships. Kindly note, your hiring will primarily support the needs of a UK-based client, therefore your work shift will most likely be as per their time zone. Your key responsibilities will include: Category Ownership & Strategy Development:Take full ownership of the Medical Consumables and Surgical category for designated UK healthcare clients, including NHS Trusts and private providers. Develop and deliver robust category strategies aligned to clinical priorities, operational needs, and financial targets. Spend and Demand Analysis:Conduct in-depth spend analysis and usage trend evaluations across Trusts to identify areas for cost savings, product standardization, and supplier consolidation. Use data to drive insights and support evidence-based decision-making. Sourcing & Procurement Support:Lead or support competitive tendering, benchmarking, and supplier negotiations. Work closely with UK-based procurement leads to execute sourcing plans, prepare business cases, and evaluate proposals in line with NHS public procurement regulations. Stakeholder Engagement:Collaborate with clinical teams, procurement colleagues, and operational leads to ensure product selections align with clinical requirements, patient safety standards, and value-for-money expectations. Supplier Management & Performance Monitoring:Maintain productive relationships with suppliers, monitor contract compliance, and manage supplier performance. Support the development of KPIs, service-level agreements, and escalation frameworks. Regulatory and Framework Compliance:Ensure all procurement activity complies with NHS standards, public procurement laws, and applicable national frameworks such as NHS Supply Chain, NHS SBS, and HealthTrust Europe. Continuous Improvement & Innovation:Contribute to process improvement initiatives, supply chain resilience, and digital procurement innovations. Support the rationalization of SKUs, clinical variation reduction, and adoption of sustainable procurement practices. Reporting & Governance:Prepare detailed reports, dashboards, and presentation packs for client meetings, internal governance, and performance tracking. Provide clear insights and progress updates to the UK leadership and client delivery teams. Collaboration in a Global Delivery Model:Operate effectively as part of a distributed, cross-border team. Work collaboratively with colleagues across India and the UK to maintain alignment with project goals, timelines, and client expectations . Note: This job description is not exhaustive and may be added to or changed to from time-to-time following discussion and consultation with the post holder and line manager.Job Requirements FACTORS DESCRIPTIONEducation and Qualifications Bachelor’s in pharmacy, Life Sciences, Biomedical Engineering, Healthcare Management, or Supply Chain. Confident with data analysis (Excel, Power BI) and eProcurement platforms (Jaggaer, Coupa, Atamis, etc.). Knowledge of NHS procurement regulations, frameworks, and performance metrics. CIPS qualification (or working towards it) is a plus Exposure to Smart Procurement, Supply Chain Digitization, or Category Planning is a bonus. Industry Knowledge, Consulting and Special Skills 5+ years of experience in healthcare procurement or consulting with deep exposure to medical consumables and surgical products. Commercially savvy with strong vendor negotiation and relationship management skills. Outstanding communication, stakeholder engagement, and remote collaboration abilities. Goal driven – should be focused on helping clients meet their requirements – by developing answers and solutions when client requirement remains unclear / changes, and by providing relevant insights and key questions to fit the client objective.Work Experience More than 5 years experience in healthcare procurement or consulting with deep exposure to medical consumables and surgical products Prior experience supporting or working with private hospitals, or public sector health organizations Experience of leading project teams and developing proposals is desirable Behavioral/ team skills Personal drive and positive work ethic to deliver results within tight deadlines and in demanding situations Flexibility to adapt to a variety of assignments, working hours and work environments and locations Team player; self-driven and ability to work independentlyCTC Offered INR18LPA to INR22 LPA (inclusive of all taxes) – breakup shareable upon selection.Company Culture and Benefits Maternity and paternity leave Opportunities for networking and professional developmentNote: Benefits vary based on employment type and location.
