The Seed Production Research officer/specialist supports Seed Production indeveloping and implementing production practices for new hybrids, conducting trialsrelated to Agronomy, Nikking studies, Seed extraction & disinfection. The role requiresthe job holder to conduct scientific studies/research on seed production-relatedareas to develop improved production practice and methodology to produce qualityseed sustainably.Functional Roles & Responsibilities1. Develop and implement seed production practices for new and existing hybrids2. Conduct trials related to the use of mechanical seed extraction in commercialseed production3. Plan, conduct & conclude trials related to a comprehensive system foreffective monitoring of the wet seed disinfection process as a part of EWGroup Seed Health Policy4. Learn and support the implementation of pollen technology/ centralized maleflower production in commercial seed production5. Develop the overall seed production SOP for successful seed production ofnew hybrids at new locations6. 75% to 80% time required for field activity & 25% to 20% time required foroffice related work (Computer handling, report preparation, data analysis).Administrative Roles & Responsibilities7. Trial approvals from the Immediate/ Functional Manager.8. Coordinate for agreement preparation for SPR trials.9. Interact with farmers, the Local Station Manager & respective area staff forSPR trials.10.Timely reporting of work responsibility to Immediate/ Functional Manager.11.Good Coordination with SPD, QA & STR function.Financial Roles & Responsibility12.Implementation of the SPR trial agreement as per Company policy.13.Coordinate for procurement of seed material related to SPR trials andfollow-up payment related to SPR trials.Other Roles & Responsibilities, if any1. Work in close coordination with Seed Technology, QA & SPD function toidentify key issues in Seed production and plan further trials.Minimum Requirements (Education, Experience, Skills)1. MSc in Agriculture (major in Seed Science & Technology/ Horticulture/Agronomy/ Breeding)2. Working experience of 2 to 5 years in Seed production research,Seed Production, especially in Vegetable Seed production with a knowledge ofCrop agronomy; Pest management; Irrigation management & Post harvesttechnology is preferred.3. Good understanding of modern farming methods4. A commitment to understanding how farming impacts the environment.5. Skills & Knowledge:6. Computer literate; Google Workspace: Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, Calendars7. Technical writing and result presentation8. Statistical skills and knowledge of Experimentation Techniques
