HFSS – High speed modelling simulations – not only the candidate knows how to do the simulation but also can interpret the simulations (data) and provide feedback on next steps (what changes to be done to bring out more margins) rather than waiting for what needs to be done. They are looking for an in-depth understanding and strong fundamentals.3. Ansys SI wave or other tools / ADS Keysight / Cadence Power AC Power DC tool - Experience in the same.4. HFSS is used for all designs – PD Structures – What happens to Chip? What happens to via? how to optimize the via – in depth understanding – candidates should not say that I have used one or two years and then I did not – but have used for multiple projects and have good in depth understanding and fundamentals.5. DDR4 / DDR5 – what are the challenges – interpret the high-speed service and details – if the speed doubles up then what changes should be made – PCB material / PCB stack up how that will be affected6. In terms of power integrity .. as the power is getting lower and lower voltage and noise is increasing, how he will handle the IR drop, PDN – depths of PDN, how many experience they have and how many projects done. They should not just theoretically say that I know PDN or have worked on the same.7. They need someone who can be an addition to support and not one who waits to be directed.
