In this role, you’ll be working at the core of PayFuture’s payments infrastructure—powering pay-ins, payouts, currency conversions, and real-time settlements across continents. We’re looking for engineers with experience in JAVA-based microservices and a deep understanding of building backend services in the financial space.As our Backend Engineer, you will have these main objectives: Build, maintain, and scale payment processing services using Java (Spring Boot)Design RESTful APIs and asynchronous services used by merchants and internal toolsWork closely with Product, DevOps, and Frontend teams to deliver features end-to-endImplement systems that ensure high availability, fault tolerance, and data integrityWrite unit, integration, and performance testsParticipate in system architecture discussions, code reviews, and technical planningMonitor, debug, and optimize backend systems in productionYou will be a good fit if you: Are aligned with our values of Belief, Accountability & Ownership, Positivity, Execution, and Speed.Have 4–6 years of backend development experience with JAVA (Spring Boot)Have a deep understanding of microservices architecture, message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), and relational databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL)Are experienced with payment processing, settlement systems, or bank integrationsHave a strong focus on clean code, design patterns, and scalable system designAre familiar with cloud services (AWS, GCP, or Azure), CI/CD pipelines, and monitoring toolsHave prior exposure to containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) is a plusAre fluent in English, both written and spoken.Bonus Points if you are – Knowledgeable of PCI-DSS or other compliance requirements in financial systemsExperienced with internationalisation and currency conversionsFamiliar with distributed tracing and observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, etc.)Our Hiring Process:Our hiring process is designed to be agile.
