Job Description

As a Project Safety Manager, the focus is on implementing and continuously improving Process Safety Management (PSM) systems across plant operations, ensuring safe design, regulatory compliance, and risk reduction to protect people, assets, and the environment. This role is crucial in driving a culture of safety excellence and operational discipline across the organization.Key Responsibilities Include:Process Safety Leadership – Lead and coordinate PSM programs and initiatives across all operational units, ensuring alignment with global safety standards.Hazard Identification & Risk Analysis – Conduct HAZOP, LOPA, QRA, FMEA, and other risk assessments to proactively identify and mitigate potential hazards.Standards & Best Practices – Develop and implement robust process safety standards, procedures, and engineering controls.Critical Systems Integrity – Ensure the effectiveness of Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) and safety-critical barriers.Compliance Monitoring – Oversee compliance with national and international PSM regulations (e.g., OSHA, CCPS, IEC) and company guidelines.Incident Investigation – Facilitate root cause analyses for process-related incidents and track implementation of corrective actions.Management of Change (MOC) – Support MOC processes by evaluating the safety impact of design or operational changes.Training & Awareness – Deliver process safety training and build competency across cross-functional teams.Cross-functional Collaboration – Engage with operations, engineering, maintenance, and project teams to embed safety into every aspect of plant activities.Process Safety Metrics & Reporting – Analyze leading and lagging indicators to measure safety performance and drive continual improvement.Desired Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s in Chemical Engineering or a related disciplineExperience: 10+ years in process safety in oil & gas, petrochemicals, chemicals, steel, or heavy manufacturingCertifications Preferred: NEBOSH, CCPS, TUV, IChemE, or equivalent in process safetyKey Skills:Risk Assessment & Hazard EvaluationProcess Safety Analysis (HAZOP, LOPA, QRA, SIL)Regulatory Compliance & Standards (OSHA, API, IEC)Dispersion Modelling & Safety Simulation Tools (PHA-Pro, PHAST, Aspen HYSYS)Crisis Management & Incident ResponseAnalytical Thinking & Problem SolvingKnowledge in Process ReliabilityLeadership in Safety Culture DevelopmentTechnical Safety Training & Mentoring
