Perform Preventative Maintenance (PM’s) on all instrument devices. Perform calibration, testing, making any necessary adjustments, and documenting the results. Perform loop checking to verify that all the connected components are working properly or to determine if repairs are needed, and then to red mark any modifications on associated drawings. Troubleshoot any instrumentation that is not working properly, to determine any discrepancies between proper operation and observed operation, and to isolate any suspect device from the control loop, and to perform corrective action as necessary to resolve any problems. Studies plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of repairs and/or installations. Carries out a variety of repairs for instruments/components brought to the workshop for maintenance, such as repairing electronic cards, regulators, and transmitters. Complete all paperwork in a timely manner; includes timesheets, shop papers, calibration records, drawing red-marks and especially ISO forms. Some computer records must be completed, including entering completion codes in the SAP maintenance system, buying parts out of Stores, and completing computer-based training. The Technician must be able to select appropriate test equipment for testing and calibrations and make decisions about replacements that are appropriate, safe, and economically sound. Must have a good understanding of interlock, logics, layer of protections and P&IDs. Coordinate with the process and technology team for the need for automation, flexible to work with cross functional team. Performs a variety of complex maintenance duties under limited supervision. Must be able to locate, diagnose, do complex troubleshooting, and repair instrument equipment. Ability to use all shop calibration, test equipment and all shop tools. Able to differentiate between process issues and instrument issues. Able to write JSA’s and e-mails or reports concerning operational issues and make suggestions for improvement. Takes callouts anywhere in the plant. Knowledge and working experience of DCS, PLC +SCADA installations & maintenance. Knowledge and hands on working experience on ABB/Siemens DCS/logic system is added advantage. Hands on experience for maintenance of all types of instruments Like flowmeters, Radar instrument, On/Off valve, Control valve, Pneumatic system, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers & transmitters. Knowledge and working experience of Basic network protocol, Walky Talky, PA system and Fire Detection system.
