The Seed Production Research officer/specialist supports Seed Production in developing and implementing production practices for new hybrids, conducting trials related to Agronomy, Nikking studies, Seed extraction & disinfection. The role requires the job holder to conduct scientific studies/research on seed production-related areas to develop improved production practice and methodology to produce quality seed sustainably.Functional Roles & Responsibilities 1. Develop and implement seed production practices for new and existing hybrids 2. Conduct trials related to the use of mechanical seed extraction in commercial seed production 3. Plan, conduct & conclude trials related to a comprehensive system for effective monitoring of the wet seed disinfection process as a part of EW Group Seed Health Policy 4. Learn and support the implementation of pollen technology/ centralized male flower production in commercial seed production 5. Develop the overall seed production SOP for successful seed production of new hybrids at new locations 6. 75% to 80% time required for field activity & 25% to 20% time required for office related work (Computer handling, report preparation, data analysis). Administrative Roles & Responsibilities 7. Trial approvals from the Immediate/ Functional Manager. 8. Coordinate for agreement preparation for SPR trials. 9. Interact with farmers, the Local Station Manager & respective area staff for SPR trials. 10.Timely reporting of work responsibility to Immediate/ Functional Manager. 11.Good Coordination with SPD, QA & STR function. Financial Roles & Responsibility 12.Implementation of the SPR trial agreement as per Company policy. 13.Coordinate for procurement of seed material related to SPR trials and follow-up payment related to SPR trials.Other Roles & Responsibilities, if any 1. Work in close coordination with Seed Technology, QA & SPD function to identify key issues in Seed production and plan further trials.Minimum Requirements (Education, Experience, Skills) 1. MSc in Agriculture (major in Seed Science & Technology/ Horticulture/ Agronomy/ Breeding) 2. Working experience of 2 to 5 years in Seed production research, Seed Production, especially in Vegetable Seed production with a knowledge of Crop agronomy; Pest management; Irrigation management & Post harvest technology is preferred. 3. Good understanding of modern farming methods 4. A commitment to understanding how farming impacts the environment. 5. Skills & Knowledge: 6.
