That's where you come in!About this roleThe CloudOps Engineer will support the design, deployment, and governance ofour cloud infrastructure. It's rare for us to work on weekends/holidays.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport the design, deployment, and optimization of cloud infrastructure, ensuring scalability, security, and performance. Manage and optimize Windows-based infrastructure, including Windows Server, Active Directory, and related services, in both cloud and hybrid environments.Assist to continuously improve high availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR), and backup strategies across cloud environments.Plan and manage cloud capacity and resource scaling, ensuring infrastructure availability aligns with application demand and SLAs. Comply with operations guardrails, ensuring security, compliance, cost efficiency (FinOps), and governance best practices across cloud infrastructure.Work with the DevOps team to build and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) to streamline provisioning and management of cloud resources.Support the management of CI/CD pipelines using Octopus Deploy, ensuring they align with security, compliance, and operational requirements.Use cloud monitoring and observability strategies such as Datadog, AWS CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, and other performance tools, while following operational guardrails for alerting, logging, and incidentmanagement.Supporting the implementation of security best practices, including access controls, IAM policies, encryption, and vulnerability management across all cloud technologies.Regularly audit and assess cloud environments to ensure compliance with industry regulations and internal policies (e.g., SOC 2, ISO 27001).Participate in and continuously improve incident response processes, including on-call rotations, blameless postmortems, root cause analysis and continuous improvement.Work to service level objectives (SLOs) and agreements (SLAs) and use observability tooling to drive improvements in uptime and reliability.Skills & ExperienceMust have:3+ years of experience in CloudOps, DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering or SRE, with a significant focus on both AWS (preferred) and Azure cloud environments.Strong experience managing Windows Server environments, including troubleshooting, patching, and automation.Experience with capacity planning, scaling strategies, and availability management in distributed cloud systems.Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as AWS CDK (TypeScript), Terraform, or automation scripts in Python or PowerShell.Experience with CI/CD pipelines such as Octopus Deploy or Azure DevOps.Proven ability to architect and maintain secure, highly available cloud environments.Experience in managing cloud costs and optimizing usage through FinOps strategies.Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).Nice-to-have:Certifications such as AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure Solutions Architect or similar.Exposure to performance tuning and diagnostics of Windows-based applications in cloud environments.Knowledge of licensing models and cost considerations for Windows workloads in cloud infrastructure.Familiarity with hybrid and multi-cloud environments.Experience managing Linux systems in cloud or hybrid environments.Expertise in compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001.Experience in cloud migration and multi-cloud governance strategies.Soft skills:Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills.Effective communication and documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and communicate complex ideas clearly.Ability to prioritise and manage multiple complex initiatives in a fast-paced environment.Our approach to Flexible WorkingAt stackway, we value and respect differences.
