Position: Scientist – Strain EngineeringLocation: BangaloreJob Description:We are hiring a Scientist – Strain Engineering for our client in the biotechnology sector. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in microbial strain development, molecular biology techniques, and metabolic engineering, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality results in strain optimization and recombinant production.Key Responsibilities:- Work with laboratory strains of yeast, Escherichia coli, fungi, etc., using aseptic techniques for culturing, maintenance, and transformation. - Perform advanced molecular biology techniques such as recombinant cloning, genome editing, and gene knockouts. - Engineer microbial genomes to improve phenotypes and enable heterologous production of recombinant molecules. - Conduct fermentation studies for recombinant strains, focusing on yield optimization and scale-up. - Design, implement, and characterize novel gene constructs. - Perform metabolic engineering of recombinant strains and analyze metabolic fluxes. - Prepare and execute experiments as per established SOPs and protocols. - Deliver timely and accurate results while maintaining clear communication with internal stakeholders. - Drive continuous improvement of lab processes and protocols. - Maintain lab equipment, data logs, and records in accordance with regulatory and internal standards.Qualifications and Experience:- Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Synthetic Biology, or a related field. - Minimum 5 years of postdoctoral experience in academia, pharma, or the biotech industry, particularly in recombinant platforms for the production of novel molecules (e.g., flavors and fragrances). - Proven expertise in engineering metabolic pathways in yeast and bacterial systems using advanced molecular biology tools. - Hands-on experience with metabolic pathway prediction tools. - Strong foundation in core molecular biology techniques. - Desirable: Experience in gene circuit design, cell engineering, and microbial strain development.
