Academic Support:Ensure the students develop skills in locating, evaluating, synthesizing, exposure to diversity of genres and using resources available to solve problems.Empower them to become critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of informationServe as a teacher, materials expert, and curriculum adviser to ensure that library is involved in instructional programs of the school.Create and maintain a teaching- learning environment that is welcoming, safe, flexible, and conducive to student learning in the school libraryShould develop and maintain a collection of resources that is appropriate to the curriculum, the learners, and the teaching styles and instructional strategies used within the school.Establish processes and procedures for selection, acquisition, circulation, and resource sharingEnsure the library management system is maintained and supporting its use by studentShould effectively plan school library program to meet identified needsEnsure that the school library program (SLP) is aligned with the mission, goals and objectives of the school and is an integral component of the learning/instructional programMust be updated with professional practices and developments, information technologies and educational research applicable to school library programsAdmin Support:Ensure proper management of issuing and returning, shelving of the librarys stockEnsure timely maintenance of the library registers and other statistical records.Must take an active role in school improvement and accreditation activitiesShould maintain inventories, discarding /weeding stock, compile statistics, and generate reports as required, file cards in shelf list and process new materials for shelving.Should compile with, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents requiredEnsure an accurate inventory of resources & Index materials for the pamphlet collectionMust share expertise by presenting at faculty meetings and trainings, parent meetings and school workshops.Be active participant, accessible and an informed proponent of the school library professionShould determine the type of cataloguing required, develop, and maintain cataloguing procedures, search external database programs for the availability of cataloguing copy.Enter cataloguing data into the library's automated system with complete records where only partial copy is available.Interfacing with other staff members as and when required.Interfaces with center and corporate office team as and when requiredInterface with external vendors for any functional issues.
