We invite applications for the General Manager/Deputy General Manager – Business Development & Marketing role to lead market expansion and revenue growth initiatives.As GM/DGM – Business Development & Marketing, this role will lead business growth and customer acquisition strategies in a parallel licensing regime, competing with incumbent DISCOMs in the same geographical area. The primary focus will be to differentiate the company’s offerings, drive sales in competitive markets, enhance customer experience, and ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks under the Electricity Act, 2003.Key Responsibilities- Build a strategy for acquiring large consumers in the public sector and Government organizations like Coal India Ltd, SAIL, Indian Railways, etc. - Develop and execute aggressive sales plans to onboard new consumers (industrial, commercial, high-end domestic) - Identify and pursue leads for migration from incumbent licensees under open access and parallel licensing guidelines. - Gather market intelligence on emerging trends in the industries and new requirements of the industries. - Educate consumers on switching benefits, billing transparency, and service reliability - Highlight the company’s differentiators—like green energy options, customized tariffs, or digital interfaces - Ensure proactive grievance redressal and customer retention programs, especially with large industrial consumers. - Manage strategic relationships with various institutions like authorities, private institutions, the Regulatory commission, various consumer forums, and local opinion makers, viz. MPs, MLAs, Councillors of local bodies, NGOs, etc. - Track policy changes and industry developments related to open access, net metering, and energy exchange - Monitor sales performance, revenue realization, and profitability metrics - Build and promote brand identity focused on reliability, service quality, and customer-centricity - Prepare periodic sales report showing sales volume, potential sales, and areas of proposed customer base expansion. - Represent the organization at trade association meetings and customer meets to leverage the brand. - Collaborate with technical, operations, and legal teams for integrated delivery of servicesDesired experience, skills, and competencies-- Graduate & preferably Graduate Engineer in Electrical with M.BA in Marketing with at least 15 years’ experience in enterprise sales like iron/steel/power/OEM companies, having handled large clients and preferably PSU’s/PSE’s like Indian Railways, SAIL, Coal India Ltd. - In-depth understanding of Government clients like Railways, SAIL, Coal India Ltd, PHE, Municipal bodies, etc., for business procurement. - Experience in customer-facing roles, preferably in energy services or utilities - Preferably, an understanding of open access, parallel licensing, and retail competition in India - Good understanding of business performance parameters that will affect the current & future performance of the business - Familiarity with issues in the Electricity Industry and the issues emerging due to the restructuring of the power sector, including the workings of regulatory commissions and other synergistic areas of the distribution business of electricity, will be preferable. - Familiarity with consumer migration processes, digital energy platforms, and demand forecasting tools - Strong leadership, negotiation, and communication skills - Outstanding communication skills, both written and oral. - Strong influencing skills - Results-oriented and high on energy-#Business Development #Sales #DISCOM #Power Distribution #Power Tariff #Leadership
