Job Title:Diamond & Gemstone Grader – Gemology Team Department:Quality & Gemology Location:Bangalore, India Reports To:Manager – GemologyPosition Overview: C. Krishniah Chetty Group of Jewellers , a heritage brand renowned for its precision and craftsmanship, is seeking a detail-orientedDiamond & Gemstone Graderto join our Gemology Team. The ideal candidate will be responsible not only for grading diamonds but also for the accuratesorting and classification of coloured gemstones , ensuring every piece aligns with CKC's exacting quality standards and international grading norms.Key Responsibilities: Grade and evaluate diamonds based on the 4Cs: Carat, Cut, Clarity, and Colour, using international grading standards. Sort and classify a wide range of coloured gemstones (e.g., rubies, sapphires, emeralds) based on quality factors such as colour saturation, clarity, transparency, size, and cut. Use gemological instruments (microscopes, loupes, refractometers, spectrometers, etc.) to analyze and assess gemstones and diamonds. Detect enhancements, treatments, or synthetic origins in both diamonds and gemstones. Maintain comprehensive grading reports and gemstone logs with photographic records. Coordinate with the procurement, design, and merchandising teams for gemstone selection, matching, and quality assurance. Verify documentation and certification from external labs (e.g., GIA, IGI, GRS). Assist in developing and refining CKC’s internal grading and sorting protocols. Ensure traceability, ethical sourcing compliance, and support gemstone inventory audits.Qualifications and Experience: Graduate or Diploma in Gemology from a recognized institute (e.g., GIA, IGI, Gemological Institute of India). 3–6 years of hands-on experience in grading diamonds and sorting coloured gemstones. Expertise in distinguishing between natural, treated, and synthetic stones. High level of visual accuracy and precision. Familiarity with industry standards and certification practices.Preferred Skills: Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage large volumes of stones efficiently. Experience in luxury or heritage jewellery houses is preferred. Working knowledge of inventory and ERP systems used in jewellery operations.
