Job Summary:We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Hydraulic Engineer to join our team at a ferrous shredder plant. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hydraulic systems essential to the shredding and material handling processes. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of high-pressure hydraulic systems that power shredders, conveyors, and balers.Key Responsibilities:Inspect, maintain, and repair hydraulic systems associated with the shredder, feed conveyors, and downstream processing equipment.Design or modify hydraulic circuits and select appropriate components (valves, pumps, cylinders, hoses, etc.).Conduct regular preventive maintenance and diagnostics on hydraulic equipment.Troubleshoot hydraulic failures and recommend corrective actions to minimize downtime.Maintain accurate records of hydraulic system performance, repairs, and modifications.Collaborate with mechanical and electrical teams during shutdowns, upgrades, or new installations.Monitor fluid cleanliness, pressure settings, and temperature to ensure optimal performance.Ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards related to hydraulic systems (e.g., spill prevention, system integrity).Maintain inventory of critical hydraulic parts and consumables.Provide technical training to maintenance personnel on hydraulic system operation and safety.Qualifications:Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Power Technology, or related field.Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in hydraulic systems, preferably in heavy industrial or metal recycling environments.In-depth knowledge of hydraulic schematics, troubleshooting methods, and fluid dynamics.Experience working with large industrial shredders, balers, or material handling equipment is highly desirable.Familiarity with hydraulic component manufacturers (e.g., Parker, Bosch Rexroth, Eaton, Vickers).Strong understanding of workplace safety and lockout/tagout procedures.Ability to work independently and under pressure in a high-volume, noisy industrial environment.
