Hello all GNU/Linux fans and geeks! Nakshatra Systems is looking forward to hire a linux software developer/engineer for the post of a Linux Software Repository maintainer, who can service i.e maintain, upgrade/udpate and manage the integrity of a software repository. This is not a system's administrator profile job. However devops can apply. Looking for immediate joiners. It is a full time contract job of 1 year. Candidate will have to sign a legal agreement that will include NDA and NCA. Vacancy : 1-2 Minimum experience needed : 0 - 2 years What is Nakshatra Linux ====================== Nakshatra Linux is a clone and a derivative of slackware linux. Note: ===== Since nature is work from home, a good broadband internet connection with IPV6 facility is mandatory for remote logins and work, failing to which contract can be terminated immediately. Required technical skills : ============================= Compiling and creating software from source code.(knowledge of cflags dflags prefix etc) Ability to use package creation tools to update/create software packages. (makepkg) Keeping track of software dependencies. Debugging with gdb if needed. Patching - creating / providing / managing software patches (patch and other related commands) Ability to understand and create Makefiles as necessary. Monitoring and staying current with CVE's. Maintaining Changelogs and other documentation. Providing bug fixes. Reviewing changes. knowledge of build systems , cvs and git. Proficiency in linux commands, filters, bash scripting, C and python. Connect with upstream developer for solutions if needed to get issues resolved. Good troubleshooting skills. Knowledge of Slackware Linux a HUGE plus as candidates with knowledge of slackware will be prioritized over to those with knowledge of redhat/debian. Non-technical pre-requisites : ============================== Should be fluent in english with good verbal and written skills Ability to work in team as well as independently. Should be able to resolve assigned tasks in the specified time-frame/deadlines. Candidates with matching skill set only will be shortlisted and will be contacted via phone for a technical interview.
