Our core team comprises alumni from prestigious institutions such as IIT, IIM, ISB, and NIMHANS.About the RoleJob Summary: The Special Educator is responsible for assessing, designing, implementing, and monitoring individualized educational plans (IEPs) for students with special needs. This role involves adapting curriculum, employing specialized instructional techniques, and collaborating with parents, general education teachers, therapists, and other professionals to support students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth. The Special Educator is dedicated to fostering an inclusive learning environment and empowering students to achieve significant milestones.Key Responsibilities:Assessment and Evaluation:Conduct formal and informal assessments (diagnostic, formative, summative) to identify students' strengths, weaknesses, learning styles, and specific educational needs.Interpret assessment results to inform the development of individualized interventions and goals.Continuously monitor and track student progress, collecting data to document growth and adjust teaching strategies.Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) / Individualized Program Plans (IPPs):Develop, implement, and regularly review comprehensive IEPs/IPPs tailored to each student's unique needs, goals, and learning objectives.Collaborate with parents, general education teachers, therapists (e.g., speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists), counselors, and administrators to ensure IEPs are holistic and effectively integrated.Ensure all IEPs/IPPs comply with relevant educational laws and regulations.Instruction and Curriculum Adaptation:Design and deliver individualized or small-group instruction to address academic skills (reading, writing, math), social-emotional development, communication, and daily living skills.Adapt general education curriculum, teaching methods, and instructional materials to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities of students with special needs.Utilize a variety of evidence-based teaching strategies, multi-sensory approaches, and assistive technologies to enhance student engagement and learning.Teach appropriate behavioral strategies and implement positive reinforcement techniques to manage classroom behavior and foster a supportive learning environment.4Collaboration and Communication:Work closely with general education teachers to promote inclusive practices, provide in-class support, and differentiate instruction for students with special needs in mainstream settings (co-teaching models).Maintain regular, transparent, and empathetic communication with parents/guardians regarding their child's progress, challenges, and home-based strategies.Liaise with external agencies, specialists, and community service providers to coordinate comprehensive support for students.Participate actively in team meetings, professional development workshops, and parent-teacher conferences.Required Qualifications & Skills:Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation Science, Psychology, or a related field.Certification/License: Valid Special Education teaching certificate/license as per [Indian/State specific requirements, e.g., RCI registration].Experience: Proven experience working with children/students with a wide range of disabilities (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, Down Syndrome, Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), Intellectual Disabilities, physical disabilities, sensory impairments).
