A Business Development Manager (BDM) in a private university in India plays a crucial role in expanding the institution’s reach, visibility, and revenue streams through strategic initiatives. Below are the key roles and responsibilities:1.   Strategic Partnerships and CollaborationsIdentify and establish MoUs with industry partners, academic institutions, and international universities.Facilitate joint research projects, faculty exchange, and student exchange programs.Explore government and private funding opportunities for collaborative ventures.2.   Identifying Futuristic Academic Programs·     Identify futuristic Academic Programs across all disciplines having potential for student recruitment in medium/ long term.·     Check and analyze Academic Programs being offered by other universities in India and prepare feasibility & financial viability reports for introducing the Courses in the University.   3.   Student Recruitment and AdmissionsDesign and implement outreach strategies for domestic and international student recruitment.Coordinate with admission teams to set targets and optimize admission conversion.Develop school/institution visit campaigns, seminars, and participation in education fairs.4.   Branding and MarketingWork with the marketing team to promote university programs, courses, and events.Enhance brand visibility through digital campaigns, PR initiatives, and alumni testimonials.Represent the university at public events, conferences, and education expos.5.   Industry EngagementBuild relationships with corporates for internships, placements, live projects, and guest lectures.Create customized training programs and executive education modules for industry needs.Develop corporate-funded scholarships or chairs.6.   Revenue GenerationIdentify new revenue streams such as consultancy services, certificate programs, and continuing education.Support incubation and innovation activities with monetization potential.Develop short-term industry-oriented programs for working professionals.7.   Market Research and Data AnalysisMonitor trends in higher education, competitor offerings, and student preferences.Analyze data to support program development, pricing strategies, and market positioning.Prepare business cases for new academic programs or verticals.8.   Cross-Departmental CoordinationCollaborate with academic departments for curriculum alignment with market needs.Liaise with the training and placement cell for industry connect and employability enhancement.Coordinate with legal, finance, and administration for partnership agreements and project execution.9.   Reporting and MISMaintain dashboards for targets, leads, conversion, partnership outcomes, and revenue metrics.Submit regular performance reports to the university leadership.Preferred Qualifications:MBA or a relevant Post Graduate Degree.Minimum 10-year experience in the education sector or corporate business development out of which 5 years at mid-management level.Strong communication, networking, and negotiation skills.
