Job Title: Data Architect – Data Platform & Power BILocation: US, looking for offshore resourceJob Type: Contract,12 monthsDepartment: Data & Analytics / ITReports To: Director of Data & AnalyticsAbout the Role:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Architect to design, implement, and maintain a modern enterprise data platform with a strong focus on Power BI for analytics and business intelligence. This role will be instrumental in leading the architecture and transformation of raw data into a scalable, secure, and insightful data ecosystem, driving data-driven decision-making across the organization.Key Responsibilities:Data Architecture & ModelingDesign and develop a scalable enterprise data architecture to support reporting, analytics, and business intelligence.Define data models (star/snowflake schemas) optimized for Power BI reporting and analysis.Ensure data normalization, integrity, and governance standards are applied consistently.ETL / Data Pipeline DevelopmentArchitect and oversee the development of robust data pipelines for extracting, transforming, and loading (ETL/ELT) data from multiple sources (ERP, CRM, APIs, files, etc.).Optimize data ingestion and transformation processes for performance and reliability using modern tools (e.g., Azure Data Factory, SQL, Python, etc.).Power BI Platform DevelopmentCollaborate with business stakeholders and analysts to define key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting needs.Design Power BI datasets, dataflows, dashboards, and reports that are scalable and user-friendly.Implement row-level security and governance policies within Power BI.Data Governance & ComplianceEstablish data governance best practices, including metadata management, data lineage, and cataloging.Ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOX as applicable).Collaboration & StrategyPartner with cross-functional teams (IT, business analysts, product owners) to align data architecture with business strategy.Act as a mentor to data engineers and Power BI developers, sharing best practices and architectural guidance.Qualifications:Required:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.7+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles.Strong expertise in data modeling, relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL), and ETL design.3+ years of hands-on experience building solutions in Power BI (including DAX, Power Query, and dataflows).Proven experience designing scalable data platforms in cloud environments (preferably Azure).Strong knowledge of data governance, data quality, and security best practices.Preferred:Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Databricks, or similar cloud data services.Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python or R for data manipulation and automation.Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and DevOps practices.We are looking for someone to be based offshore, paying $40-45 dollars per hour either self-employed or payrolled.
