Head of Learning (‘employee #3’)Who we areIn the journey toward Bikshit Bharath 2047, a groundbreaking stealth start-up in financial literacy is looking to work with someone specializing in how adults across India engage with and learn from educational content and tools. Our mission is to enable people across the country – rural India, gig workers and others – to take control of their lives through better awareness on basic financial matters. Key to our mission will be customizing the learning experience for each user and making our content more accessible and more understandable than what is out there today.This start-up is led by two co-founders with global brand-name MBAs, with a track record of starting tech and fintech businesses and achieving successful outcomes. Who we’re looking forIn this context, we’re looking for a subject-matter expert in how ‘grassroots’ India learns; someone who can lead the customization of our content and delivery for our target audiences. This person might bring expertise in education or psychology, for example. He or she might also have experience working with rural India (in a relevant context) or delivering basic financial literacy content to mass audiences. Not all of these are required (and there may be other relevant backgrounds), but we’re looking for someone with the right mix of expertise to help differentiate our offering as described…and who’s passionate about being part of an entrepreneurial venture that will directly impact the Bharat vision. How we intend to engageFor the right candidate, we’re open to different models of collaboration, including bringing the person in as a Board advisor, co-founder, ‘regular employee’ or on a contract/consulting basis. While cash remuneration will be considered, since we’re a seed-stage start-up the preferred model is via equity at this stage; also so the individual can share in this huge wealth creation opportunity. Ultimately though, the engagement model will depend on what the right candidate brings to the table.Requirements15+ years of relevant subject-matter experience. This could be in one or some combination of education, psychology, basic financial literacy or engaging deeply with our target audience over a lengthy period of time in some relevant capacity.Passion for applying this experience to a start-up that will change Bharat for the better. We’re also open to the right candidate keeping his/her ‘day job’ (if needed), but this role would have to be their only other commitment and a top priority.Openness to equity as the main method of compensation, at least until further funding is raised. Again, we’re open to discussing paid consulting, but candidates for whom short-term cash is the main motivator will not be the right fit.
