We are seeking a seasoned Java Architect with a strong foundation in Mainframe technologies, particularly Assembler, to lead our legacy system transformation initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Java development and a solid understanding of Mainframe systems, enabling them to design and implement effective modernization strategies.Key ResponsibilitiesLegacy System Analysis & Modernization Strategy:Assess existing Mainframe applications, particularly those utilizing Assembler, and develop comprehensive modernization strategies to transition to modern platforms.Code Conversion & Refactoring:Lead efforts in converting legacy Assembler code to Java or other modern languages, ensuring functionality, performance, and maintainability are preserved.Migration Planning & Execution:Design and implement migration plans to transition from Mainframe environments to cloud-based or distributed systems, utilizing tools like Micro Focus, mLogica, or AWS Mainframe Modernization services.Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:Work closely with cross-functional teams, including architects, developers, and business analysts, to ensure alignment of modernization efforts with business objectives.Mentorship & Knowledge Sharing:Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.Documentation & Reporting:Maintain comprehensive documentation of modernization processes, code conversions, and migration plans. Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project progress.Required QualificationsEducational Background:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.Mainframe Expertise:Minimum of 10 years of experience working with Mainframe technologies, including Assembler, COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM.Java Proficiency:Strong hands-on experience in Java development, with a deep understanding of object-oriented principles and frameworks like Spring Boot.Modernization Experience:Proven experience in leading Mainframe modernization projects, including code conversion, system migration, and platform re-architecture.Cloud & Distributed Systems Knowledge:Understanding of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and distributed system architectures.Communication Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.Preferred QualificationsCertifications:Relevant certifications in Java, cloud platforms, or Mainframe technologies.Agile Methodology:Experience working in Agile development environments.DevOps Practices:Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools for continuous integration and deployment.
