About the Institute Kalyanam Karoti Eye Institute is a charitable eye hospital committed to providing high-quality, affordable, and accessible eye care services to underserved and rural populations. With a vision to eliminate preventable blindness, the institute conducts thousands of surgeries annually and runs regular outreach camps across multiple districts in Uttar Pradesh. Role Summary The Ophthalmologist will be responsible for examining, diagnosing, and treating eye-related diseases and conditions. The role involves both outpatient and surgical care, with active participation in outreach screening camps and training initiatives. Key Responsibilities : Clinical Services Conduct comprehensive eye examinations for patients of all ages. Diagnose and treat eye diseases including cataract, glaucoma, retinal disorders, infections, and refractive errors. Prescribe medications, optical aids, and advise on preventive care. Surgical Responsibilities Perform eye surgeries, especially cataract (SICS/Phacoemulsification), glaucoma, and minor anterior segment procedures. Assist or lead retina, cornea, or pediatric surgeries based on specialization and availability. Documentation and Reporting Maintain proper medical records, OPD and surgery registers, and patient history. Contribute to patient data management and reporting to internal or external stakeholders. Training and Collaboration Train and supervise junior doctors, optometrists, and paramedical staff. Coordinate with other departments for holistic patient care and support services. Patient Care and Counseling Counsel patients and families about diagnosis, treatment options, and post-operative care. Ensure a compassionate and patient-friendly approach in line with the institute’s values. Eligibility Criteria : Educational Qualification : MBBS with MS/MD/DNB in Ophthalmology or equivalent (recognized by MCI/NMC) Fellowship in sub-specialties (e.g., retina, cornea, pediatric) desirable but not mandatory Experience : Minimum 1–3 years of post-PG clinical and surgical experience preferred Freshers with strong clinical skills and motivation may also apply Skills Required : Proficiency in SICS and/or Phaco surgeries Strong clinical judgment and diagnostic skills Team spirit, patient-centered approach, and ethical conduct Basic computer knowledge for EMR and reporting
