Purpose of the Job As an Application Manager you are responsible for managing, maintaining and optimizing technological applications within the organization. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including IT teams, user groups and suppliers, to ensure applications meet operational requirements and user needs. You are an essential link between technology and business processes, providing innovative solutions and ensuring smooth operation of applications to improve operational efficiency. About the job (Job Responsibilities) As a Technical Application Manager (TAM), your role involves the management and maintenance of SAP systems. Your responsibilities may include system installation, configuration, monitoring, and performance tuning to ensure the reliability and efficiency of the SAP landscape. You may also need to handle system security, user management, backups, and disaster recovery. Here's a breakdown of the key areas of focus in a typical Technical Application Manager (TAM)role: System Installation and Configuration: · Installing, configuring, and upgrading SAP systems and related components such as SAP HANA, NetWeaver, and Solution Manager. · Applying support packages and patches to keep the systems up to date. System Monitoring and Performance Tuning: · Monitoring system performance, availability, and capacity to identify and address potential issues. · Performance tuning, including optimizing parameters and configurations for better system performance. System Security and User Management: · Implementing and maintaining system security measures, such as user authentication, authorization, and single sign-on. · Managing user accounts, roles, and authorizations to ensure proper access control. Backup and Recovery: · Planning and implementing backup strategies to protect SAP data and configurations. · Developing and testing disaster recovery plans to minimize system downtime in case of failures. Transport Management: · Managing and monitoring transports of SAP objects between systems, ensuring consistency and integrity. SAP Landscape Maintenance: · Managing system landscapes, including development, quality assurance, and production systems. · Ensuring system availability and reliability through proactive maintenance and periodic health checks. Integration and Interface Monitoring: · Monitoring and maintaining system interfaces and integrations with other SAP and non-SAP systems. SAP System Upgrades and Migrations: · Planning and executing system upgrades and migrations to newer versions or platforms. Documentation and Reporting: · Maintaining system documentation, procedures, and operational guides. · Providing regular reports on system performance, status, and ongoing activities. Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: · Investigating and resolving system issues, errors, and performance problems. · Conduct conference call meetings/ Incident war-room to resolve critical incidents. · Collaborating with SAP functional teams and technical support to address complex issues. · Enhance business perception of IT by quickly resolving and communicating requests and incidents · Responsible for ongoing analysis, documentation, management and reporting of incidents and requests in daily operations. · Drive knowledge management and value extraction within the TAM domain. Compliance and Best Practices: · Ensure compliance (GDPR, SOX and industry standards) with regulations and security standards related to the applications, including data protection, privacy and information security. · Implementing best practices for SAP system administration and operation. Application Management: · Manage and maintain various technology applications, including installation, configuration, monitoring, upgrades and troubleshooting. · Cooperate with delivery managers AMS and Hosting and service improvement managers in creating an end-to-end service experience for the customer. · Acts as problem manager to structurally resolve recurring incidents and problems. · Responsible for execution of the service level agreements from suppliers and towards the customers and ensuring that these are met. · Understand his/her part within an End-to-End Service mindset not just the TAM components and impact from a business/user’s perspective. · Makes sure that all IT Service Management processes, Operational Level Agreements and Underpinning Contracts are appropriate and aligned for the agreed service level targets. · Contribute to the operational integrity globally through continuous improvement. · Oversees the delivery of Technical Application Management services by key suppliers. · Recognizes potential strategic application of IT solutions/assets to the benefit of the organization. · Responsible for managing and controlling the full IT landscape and makes sure IM services are delivered in line with architecture guidelines and principles. · Keep CMDB up to date for the technical processes and applications in scope. · Supporting project handover activities (hand over from deliverables and knowledge from a project to the Technical Maintenance teams) for the area of responsibility. · Support projects in execution of changes / enhancements · Retaining landscape specific knowledge, acting as a template gatekeeper. · Enforces the global process, establish close links with project teams, challenge and find ways of improving the controls of landscape management. · Ensures the landscape is kept well performing and healthy through functional checks, continuous improvements and technical projects in relevant area(s). · Ensure that work instructions are provided that work schedules are established and that adequate resources are assigned to ensure effective end-to-end service delivery, this to be able to meet customer specifications and service levels. · Forecast planning per agreed period including suppliers. · Collaboration with peers in the full-service chain. · Pro-actively contribute to the operational integrity of IM operations globally through continuous improvement and operational excellence. · Raise the bar by continuously look for ways to improve, also by staying abreast of external trends · Align with PMO and Manager AMS on projects with possible impact on area of responsibility. · Drive the Service Introduction for the area of responsibility ensuring a seamless introduction into the landscape and support function Stakeholder management. · Collaborate with internal users, IT teams and external vendors to understand user needs, translate technical requirements into application solutions and manage expectations. Technical Support: · Provide technical support and guidance to users in using applications, troubleshoot problems, and provide training as needed. · Responsible to maintain Capacity & Performance proactively by driving various measures together with Service Provider for both SAP & Non-SAP applications. Application Optimization: · Identify process improvement and application optimization opportunities, implement improvements, and conduct regular assessments to monitor performance. We believe you bring (Education & Experience) Master/ bachelor's degree in business management, computer science, computer engineering. Professional with minimum of 6 years of experience in the IT sector including 5 years minimum managing IT TAM services (mainly SAP Basis area) & professionals across a diverse geographical and cultural spread. Strong project management / portfolio managements experience. Knowledge of the manufacturing/ process industry. Knowledge of best practice solutions in the shared solutions space. Experience in relevant TAM services, with deep knowledge/experience of SAP system administration, SAP Basis management and know databases (DB2, HANA, MaxDB, SQLServer, etc) and servers (AIX, Linux, Windows, etc). Wintel knowledge is a plus. · Individual must demonstrate ability to act autonomously · Excellent communication and collaboration skills, both oral and written. Problem solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure. Positive, proactive, enthusiastic attitude, self-motivated. Is dedicated to reaching and maintaining the required quality of system performance and solution. SAP RISE and SAP solution Manager experience would be preferable.
