We are hiring on behalf of a global MNC in the maritime industry, with a well-established presence across Asia and Europe. We are looking to hire a Project Manager – Newbuilding. This is a critical role for managing the successful execution and delivery of new shipbuilding projects, primarily in Asia. Project Manager – New Ship Building (Based in Mumbai) Your Role: As Project Manager, you will take ownership of the full project lifecycle – from contract signing, design approval, and planning to yard supervision, commissioning, and vessel delivery. You will lead and coordinate with internal teams, shipyards, classification societies, and other stakeholders to ensure that the projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with the company’s quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Manage end-to-end delivery of newbuilding and conversion projects across Asia, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met. Plan and oversee contract signing, plan approval, hiring of site teams, construction monitoring, commissioning, and final delivery. Lead stakeholder engagement across shipyards, subcontractors, and in-house teams. Provide technical and operational leadership, ensuring risk management and contingency planning. Conduct regular site visits to shipyards and attend key project milestones. Monitor schedule, cost control, quality, and compliance at each stage of the project. Report progress regularly to senior management and ensure project documentation is maintained. Your Profile: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Marine, Mechanical, or Naval Architecture Engineering. Minimum 7–10 years of project management experience in newbuilding projects within the maritime sector. Hands-on experience managing ship construction at Asian or international shipyards (China, Korea, or Japan preferred). Strong technical understanding of ship design, classification requirements, and project controls. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant project tracking tools. Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder coordination skills. Fluent in written and spoken English. Willingness to travel regionally for site supervision and key project events.
