About our Environment & Sustainability Initiatives: As a part of our team, you will get to work on several pathbreaking and important projects such as: ● The Project Mumbai Plastic and E-waste Recyclothon: One of world’s largest citizen-led plastic collection and recycling initiatives, that has engaged lakhs of citizens and prevented thousands of plastic and e-waste from going into landfills. ● Zero Waste Schools: A unique initiative where school students from around the city learn and inculcate a zero waste and sustainable lifestyle at the individual, family, and community levels. ● Zero Waste Gardens: We build various amenities - walking blocks, benches, fences, bollards, bins, signages, and others - made from recycled plastic to promote a healthier, zero waste, and sustainable lifestyle among citizens. Role Overview: We are seeking a Project Manager to lead sustainability-focused initiatives - The Project Mumbai Plastic and E-waste Recyclothon, Zero Waste Schools, and Zero Waste Gardens - that activate citizen participation, strengthen partnerships with government agencies, and drive partnerships with CSR teams of leading corporations. This role demands strong project management, budgeting, and relationship-building skills, as well as a deep understanding of Mumbai’s sustainability and civic landscape. Key Roles and Responsibilities: 1. Project management ● Design, implement, and manage citizen-centric sustainability projects (e.g., plastic and e-waste collection drives, clean-up drives, composting programs, zero-waste campaigns, climate awareness initiatives, among others). ● Create detailed project plans, budgets, timelines, and implementation frameworks. ● Ensure timely execution, monitoring, and reporting of all project activities and deliverables. 2. Stakeholder engagement & relationship management ● Build and manage strategic relationships with: ○ Volunteers, community-based organizations, schools, and other institutional partners. ○ Government stakeholders (municipal corporations, urban local bodies (ULBs), pollution control board, etc.) ○ CSR partners, brands, and corporate donors ● Liaise with CSR teams to design and co-implement aligned sustainability initiatives. ● Represent the organization in external forums, donor meetings, and cross-sector platforms. 3. Budgeting & reporting ● Draft project proposals and presentations; lead and/or support pitch to potential funders. ● Manage project budgets, ensure financial accountability, and maintain alignment with donor/funder expectations. ● Lead project documentation, including periodic donor reports, success stories, case studies, and internal updates. ● Ensure compliance with internal processes and funder-specific reporting norms. 4. Team management ● Supervise a team of project officers and volunteers. ● Provide mentoring, training, and operational support to ensure field effectiveness and team alignment with project goals. 5. Communications & outreach ● Collaborate with the communications team to develop outreach content for social media, newsletters, and campaigns. ● Support awareness events, community workshops, and storytelling efforts to amplify project impact. Desired Qualifications and Skills ● Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Studies, Public Policy, Development Studies, Social Work, Urban Planning, or a related field. ● 5–8 years of professional experience in managing community or sustainability projects, with: Minimum 2–3 years of experience working with volunteering organizations and/or government agencies and ULBs. Experience coordinating with CSR teams, corporate partners, or donors. ● Strong project management skills, including budget ownership, impact tracking, and stakeholder reporting. ● Proven ability to build and manage cross-sector relationships (corporate, civic, government). ● Knowledge of sustainability and civic engagement issues in the Indian context (e.g., climate action, waste management, urban resilience). ● Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Marathi. ● Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, and Canva.
