Job Description

Job Title: Senior Tea Flavorist Location: Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, India Experience: Minimum 13 years in tea flavor development Key Responsibilities Flavor Development & Blending Design, prototype, and refine tea blends (black, green, oolong, herbal) to meet consumer profiles and market trends. Conduct sensory evaluations and formal taste panels; translate feedback into actionable recipe adjustments. Innovation & R&D Lead R&D projects for new flavor concepts, functional teas, and specialty infusions (e.g., wellness, herbal, ready‑to‑drink formats). Collaborate with procurement to source high‑quality raw materials and assess seasonal tea harvests. Process Optimization Work closely with production teams to scale recipes from lab to commercial batches, ensuring consistency and cost‑efficiency. Implement quality controls and troubleshooting protocols for flavor stability and shelf‑life. Regulatory & Compliance Ensure all blends comply with FSSAI, global export, and labeling regulations. Maintain up‑to‑date documentation for product dossiers and certifications. Team Leadership & Collaboration Mentor and train junior flavorists and lab technicians in sensory evaluation, blending techniques, and quality standards. Partner with Marketing and Sales to align flavor profiles with brand positioning and consumer insights. Qualifications & Experience Minimum 13 years of hands‑on experience in tea flavor development, preferably within large tea manufacturing or R&D organizations. Proven track record of successfully launching new tea products and blends in domestic and international markets. Deep understanding of tea chemistry, sensory science, and global tea varietals (e.g., Assam, Darjeeling, Nilgiri). Strong familiarity with flavor extraction technologies and analytical instrumentation (e.g., GC‑MS, HPLC). Skills & Competencies Exceptional sensory acuity and palate calibration. Advanced knowledge of food safety standards (FSSAI, HACCP, ISO) and regulatory requirements. Excellent project management, documentation, and reporting skills. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English (Tamil proficiency a plus). Leadership mindset with experience in cross‑functional team collaboration. Education Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science & Technology, Chemistry, Microbiology, or related field. Additional certifications in sensory evaluation or flavor chemistry are advantageous.
