The role and responsibility essentially include - - Structural Design and Technical Delivery: • Prepare and independently deliver detailed designs for superstructure and substructure elements of RCC and Steel Structures used in Transmission Lines, Substations, Industrial Buildings, and related infrastructure such as canopies. • Foundation Design Expertise: o Design various foundation types such as pile foundations (bored cast-in-situ, rammed, helical), raft foundations, combined footings, and block foundations based on Geotechnical Investigation Reports. o Conduct critical analysis of Geotechnical Reports to determine optimal foundation solutions. • Perform accurate load analysis and design calculations for wind, seismic, thermal, creep, and short-circuit loads, ensuring adherence to relevant standards. • Lead the development of GA Drawings, Construction Drawings, Design Reports, and BOQs, while coordinating with draftsmen and design engineers. • Conduct thorough manual design checks and validate results generated from software tools. • Software Proficiency: Utilize STAAD.Pro, SAP2000, AutoCAD, and MS Office Suite. Experience with PLS-CADD, PLS-Tower, and PLS-Pole will be advantageous. - Project Management and Client Coordination: • Independently lead and manage projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality outputs. • Collaborate effectively with EHV Electrical Teams, EPC contractors, site teams, and multi-disciplinary stakeholders. • Represent the company in project coordination meetings and client discussions (including site visits to India and abroad). • Address client queries, provide design justifications, and demonstrate solutions at client offices or project sites. • Develop design criteria and construction specifications in line with project requirements and international/national standards. • Monitor project schedules, deliverables, and milestones to achieve deadlines efficiently. • Proactively resolve technical and project-related challenges and communicate solutions to stakeholders. - Team Leadership and Guidance: • Independently lead a team of Design Engineers and Detailers, providing technical guidance and mentoring. • Assign tasks, oversee progress, and ensure adherence to project requirements and timelines. • Review designs and drawings prepared by junior engineers and draftsmen to ensure accuracy and compliance. • Foster a collaborative and productive team environment, promoting innovation and best engineering practices. - Standards and Compliance: • Design structures in compliance with applicable standards such as: o IS 802, ASCE 10, ASCE 74, and other national and international codes. o Indian and IEC standards for Substation and Transmission Line structures. • Ensure adherence to relevant design guidelines, load combinations, and safety factors for RCC and steel structures. • Maintain compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) policies and the organization’s Integrated Management System (IMS). - Site Support and Inspections: • Provide on-site technical support during the construction phase for structural works. • Conduct site visits (India and abroad) to check construction quality and ensure design implementation. • Liaise with site engineers and resolve structural issues encountered during execution.
