The BMS Hardware Manager is a crucial role in the Agratas Pack Team. This role requires a high level of analytical and critical thinking. This role is required to lead engineering activities within the scope of a defined project, including coordination of resources, planning of timelines, and delivery of engineering milestones and support team and company initiatives with a similar approach. The BMS hardware manager will have a direct impact on the company’s ability to design, develop, and deliver safe, reliable, and high-performance battery systems to customers and is expected to be a working manager. As a manager this role has direct reports and is responsible for team management in addition to providing strategic direction as it related to BMS hardware design, development, and test. The BMS hardware team will be responsible for hardware design, requirements development, and major contributor to testing and test strategies for the BMS from A-Sample into production. Role responsibilities include: · Design and development of Battery management System (BMS) hardware, and product validation including all BMS functions and related sub-components · Design reviews, architecture to meet ISO26262 Functional Safety Requirements and documentation in line with the targets of the project. · Requirements definition/management ensuring all requirements are captured and monitored · BMS hardware architecture design and benchmarking · Generate test plans and test plan, test report reviews · Involvement in systems FMEAs and management of product DFMEA · System and component feature and BMS HW implementation planning · Development of BMS HW according to international standards and norms · Coordinate with application software development, test validation and mechanical design teams as needed · Be responsible for EE elements of the Sys FMEA, functional safety and ensuring relevant preventative control measures. · Monitor system issues and assist in problem resolution and ensure lessons learned are captured in component/system requirements. · Assess system HV strategies, develop and propose improvements to vehicle and component level strategies, propose validation and gain buy-in from stakeholders. · Lead the technical discussions to deliver robust fault free designs through the application of Concurrent Engineering disciplines including DFMEA, DFA, DFM, Robustness, etc. · Agree and sign off the component/system requirements with different stakeholders for each domain based on gateway requirements · Involvement during system architecture and strategy discussions to meet BMS HW requirements and ensure all functional safety requirements are captured. Qualifications and Experience · Minimum of 10 of years of BMS hardware design experience · Degree (BEng, MEng, MSc) in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field) · High Voltage (HV) Safety Training & Certification (e.g., HV Awareness, HV Working, or equivalent) – or willingness to obtain as the job role requires · The BMS Hardware Manager must have in depth knowledge of HV Battery system regulations, and HW design principles. Previous experience of HV Battery, BMS features and functions, power electronics and electronic HW design knowhow is essential · Excellent interpersonal, collaboration, and communication skills; able to own assignments, lead by example, etc. · Strong Hardware design skills with a good track record of delivering projects on time. Experience in automotive/industrial power electronics. · Understanding of component selection process, worst case calculation and simulation of sub-systems to finalize key components · Expertise in HW design optimization, BOM Optimization through design and alternate component selection and variant management for a product · Working experience with Standards like ECE R100, ISO 26262, ISO 16949 and GBT etc. · Documentation of DFMEA, DVP, Timing Plans, Minutes and Actions of Meetings. · Automotive development processes. Knowledge of ASPICE will be an added advantage. · Previous HW design experience at tier one automotive systems. · Experience using Siemens Polarion or any other platform to manage system/components requirements. · Advocate and drive continuous improvement and process adherence/compliance. · Driven to delivering high quality projects, on time and budget, beyond customer expectations. · Exposure to battery enclosures designed to meet automotive-grade safety and environmental standards · Familiarity with BMS, EMI/EMC considerations, and HV component layout · Experience with global development teams and suppliers in the EV or ESS domain
