UI/UX Design Intern For a Diversity, Equity & Belonging Non-Profit Location: Remote/Flexible Duration: 3–6 months Type: Internship (10-15K per month) About Us We are a purpose-driven nonprofit dedicated to advancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) across communities, workplaces, and institutions. We believe that inclusive design isn't just good design—it's essential. We're looking for a UI/UX Design Intern who shares our values and can help visually bring our mission to life across platforms. As our UI/UX intern, you’ll shape how people experience our message, interact with our tools, and feel seen, heard, and included. What You’ll Do Design intuitive, inclusive, and accessible interfaces for our website, landing pages, and digital campaigns Create visually compelling layouts, icons, and illustrations that reflect DEIB principles Collaborate with content, program, and outreach teams to turn ideas into user-centered designs Conduct user research or interpret feedback to iterate and refine design solutions Help maintain a cohesive design system and brand identity across touchpoints Explore ways to represent diverse identities, experiences, and stories in UI elements What We’re Looking For Passion for design that reflects empathy, inclusion, and impact Familiarity with design tools like Figma, Adobe XD, Canva, or Sketch Strong visual storytelling and layout skills Understanding of basic UX principles—usability, accessibility (WCAG), responsiveness A portfolio (can include personal or student projects) showing thoughtful, aesthetic designs Bonus: experience with designing for non-profits or mission-driven organizations What You’ll Gain A chance to design for impact—your work will touch real lives Exposure to mission-first design principles and DEIB-led narratives Mentorship and feedback from experienced design and communications professionals Flexible work hours and a collaborative, inclusive remote team culture Letter of recommendation + endorsement + public credit for your work Possibility of continued involvement or PPO based on performance and interest To Apply: Send your resume, portfolio (or Dribbble/Behance link), and a cover letter on why inclusive design matters to you.
