ABOUT AGRATAS Agratas is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Sons. We design, develop and manufacture high-quality, high-performance, sustainable batteries applied to multiple use cases in the mobility and energy sectors, to match our customers’ requirements. Agratas is a scale-up business with a start-up mentality, driven by our pursuit of green growth and technological progress. We develop next-generation battery technologies at our state-of-the-art R&D Innovation Hubs in India and the UK. Key Responsibilities: Design, propose and conduct experiments to develop Anode materials for lithium-ion battery applications. Generate new materials via novel scalable pathways, including high temperature anode material synthesis. Characterize the composition, crystal structure and microstructure of anode materials. Design and conduct electrical/electrochemical performance measurements at both component and cell level. Plan and execute statistical designs of experiment (DoE’s) to identify relevant factors and optimize performance. Lead and Mentor junior team members, technicians, and interns, provide technical consultation to cross-functional partners. Collaborate with other team members to product development as per cell deliverables Collaborate with global and local material (Anode, Binder, conductive additive, Foils and others) vendors to screen the materials and bench mark the cathode electrodes as per deliverables of cells Work with process team to make SOP of slurry preparation in prototype labs for cells Creating the IP in terms of process, materials and technology Characterize the cell tear down parts of anode section such as Anode material, binder, copper foil, conductive carbons materials and analyze the results. Able to prioritize and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment Deep understanding of lithium-ion batteries and anode chemistry, especially Graphite, SiC and SiOX composition-process-performance. Hands-on wet chemistry and synthesis, characterization and testing of commercial lithium-ion battery materials. Hands on experience in materials characterization (XRD, PSA, FTIR, ICP-OES, BET, SEM,RAMAN,KF, XPS, TGA/DSC) and cell testing methodologies, data analysis and interpretation. High attention to detail, accuracy and precision in experimental design and analysis of results Strong communication skills and ability to simplify complexity for non-technical partners Physical demand: Must be able to work in a laboratory and dry room environment, requiring standing for 30% or more of the time. Must have dexterity to handle delicate battery components and laboratory equipment. Must be able to physically operate scientific equipment and instruments Qualifications: PhD in materials science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related scientific discipline with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of post-graduate experience in lithium-ion batteries. Strong technical knowledge and experience in battery materials for lithium-ion batteries, and a track record of delivery results. Deep knowledge and strong hands-on experience in inorganic powder material synthesis, from wet chemistry to gas-solid/solid-solid high-temperature process Be Innovative, collaborative, flexible mindset with team
