About the Role We’re hiring a Nesting Programmer for Sheet Metal & Buyer for a UK-based Manufacturing and Engineering firm that is providing full-service design-to-manufacture solutions across the UK for industrial and precision engineering applications. This is a permanent, full-time, remote role—ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, production-driven environment, takes ownership of their workflow, and has a strong grasp of sheet metal nesting, material planning, and technical drawings. What You’ll Be Doing Allocate and manage material stock required for daily nesting jobs. Order materials when stock is insufficient, ensuring timely procurement. Liaise daily with the laser operator regarding sheet usage, stock availability, and nesting priorities. Interpret technical drawings to ensure accurate nesting of sheet metal parts. Coordinate workflow with the UK office to meet daily and weekly production targets. Maintain an efficient nesting process to support just-in-time material ordering and cutting operations. Must-Have Skills Sheet metal nesting experience - min 2 years Good understanding of sheet metal materials & finishes, specifically mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium - min 2 years Understanding of sheet metal parts Good understanding of how to read / interpret a technical drawing Ability to adapt to fast paced working environment Nice-to-Have Skills Use of Bysoft nesting software Microsoft Excel knowledge / experience Knowledge of Fabrication What You’ll Achieve in Your First 90 Days Candidate to be comfortably nesting with minimal need for supervision Good workflow between the UK office and successful candidate, Ability to complete allocated daily work in time for material to be ordered the same day Good understanding of how the ordering process is done What Sets You Apart Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings for accurate nesting and material planning Strong awareness of material utilisation and stock management in a fabrication environment Comfortable working in a fast-paced production setting with tight daily deadlines Demonstrated ownership of workflow , ensuring materials are ordered on time with minimal supervision Effective communicator — able to collaborate daily with laser operators and remote office teams Why Smart Workers Love It Here Fixed Shifts — 12:00 PM – 9:30 PM IST (Summer) | 1:00 PM – 10:30 PM IST (Winter).
