Job Title: Senior QA Automation Engineer – API & Cypress Experience Level: Senior (5–10 years) Location: (Remote) Employment Type: Full-time About the Role: We are looking for a Senior QA Automation Engineer with strong hands-on experience in API and UI test automation using Cypress . In this role, you will lead test strategy, design robust automation frameworks, and ensure product quality across web and backend services. You’ll play a key part in driving QA best practices across the engineering team and mentoring junior QA engineers. Key Responsibilities: Design and develop robust test automation frameworks for both API and UI using Cypress (JavaScript/TypeScript) . Build and maintain scalable and maintainable automated test suites for RESTful APIs and frontend applications . Lead test planning, test strategy, and test case design for complex modules. Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and drive shift-left testing practices. Collaborate with developers, DevOps, product managers, and other QA engineers to ensure quality is embedded across the SDLC. Analyze automation results, perform root cause analysis, and provide clear defect reports. Continuously enhance test coverage, execution speed, and reporting. Mentor and guide junior automation engineers, conduct code reviews for test automation scripts. Promote and uphold QA best practices, including documentation, reusable components, and test data management. Required Skills and Qualifications: 5–10 years of overall experience in QA and test automation , with at least 3+ years in Cypress . Strong command over JavaScript or TypeScript for automation scripting. Deep understanding of RESTful API testing , tools like Postman , and validating JSON responses. Proficient in Cypress API testing (using cy.request(), intercepts, custom commands, etc.). Experience with test reporting tools (Allure, Mochawesome, etc.). Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions). Proficient with Git, JIRA, and test management tools like TestRail or Zephyr. Ability to define test strategy, drive automation standards, and maintain quality gates. Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Strong verbal and written communication.
