About the Role: As Manager – Afforestation and Mangrove Projects , you will be responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring large-scale afforestation , mangrove restoration , and water conservation initiatives across various geographies. You'll work at the intersection of ecology, community engagement , and climate action —bringing degraded lands and coastal zones back to life through science-based and community-driven approaches. Key Focus Areas: Afforestation Projects Implement plantation projects using native species to enhance biodiversity and sequester carbon Collaborate with local communities and forest departments to ensure long-term sustainability Strengthen community ownership and monitor survival rates with precision Mangrove Restoration Identify and restore suitable intertidal coastal zones Ensure proper plantation techniques, bunding, and water flow for healthy mangrove growth Work with fisherfolk and local governments to create shared ecological value Key Skills: Project planning, implementation, and team coordination Strong community mobilization and stakeholder engagement skills Basic knowledge of GIS, GPS mapping, and data collection tools Excellent documentation, reporting, and communication skills Financial and vendor coordination capability Comfortable with extensive travel and working in remote/rural terrains What You’ll Do: Lead afforestation and mangrove site activities from start to finish Monitor plantation quality, survival rates, and community engagement Coordinate with government officials, NGOs, contractors, and local groups Document and report impact stories, case studies, and technical progress Support proposal development, new site identification, and donor communication Preferred Profile Education: Postgraduate degree in Social Work/Environment studies, Development Studies, Public Policy, Management, or a related field. Experience: Minimum 10 years of overall experience, with at least 6 years in the development/social sector , preferably in Environment and climate action Projects. Language Proficiency: Fluency in English and Hindi is essential; proficiency in Kannada/Tamil will be an added advantage. Mobility: Open to travel for work-related assignments and stakeholder engagement. Additional Competencies Strategic problem-solving with a focus on practical, innovative solutions.
