Job Description

Company is seeking a hands-on and adaptable Facility Manager to join our startup operation in India. Reporting directly to the expatriate Operations Manager, this position will play a critical role in building and leading the local operations team. The Facility Manager will help establish the foundation for a safe, efficient, and high-performing manufacturing environment. This is a unique opportunity to shape a new facility from the ground up, working closely with global and regional stakeholders to scale our operations and capabilities in India. Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Culture - Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture where safety, accountability, and continuous improvement are top priorities. -Lead by example with positive energy to cultivate a collaborative, high-performing, and results-driven team environment. - Establish and reinforce a safety-first mindset across all functions and levels. - Act as a cultural and operational bridge between the local team and international management. Team Building & Development - Help recruit, onboard, and train local production, logistics, and support staff. - Build a high-performing team with the flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs. - Manage and continuously improve shop efficiency to ensure timely delivery and adherence to production value budgets. - Coach, mentor, and develop future leaders within the organization. Operational Execution - Collaborate closely with Safety, Quality, Facilities, and HR to ensure smooth plant operations. - Lead day-to-day manufacturing, equipment maintenance and production execution, ensuring quality and delivery expectations are met. - Identify and implement process improvements to enhance safety, efficiency, and product quality. - Maintain a clean, organized, and visitor-ready work environment. Planning & Scalability - Support the development and execution of scalable production plans aligned with business growth targets. - Assist in implementing systems and processes (e.g., ERP, quality standards) suitable for a growing operation. - Ensure resources and infrastructure are in place to meet increasing production demands. Communication & Coordination - Serve as a local leader who effectively communicates with internal teams, external partners, and global management. - Provide regular updates, performance insights, and improvement plans to senior leadership. - Work closely with logistics, procurement, and supplier management teams to ensure seamless operational flow. Qualifications & Experience: - Proven experience leading manufacturing or plant operations, ideally in a growing or startup environment. - Strong people management and cross-functional coordination skills. - Demonstrated ability to build teams and implement operational systems from the ground up. - Knowledge of Indian regulatory, labor, and safety requirements is highly preferred. - Fluent in English and Hindi (or Marathi/local language); strong communication skills across diverse audiences. - Proficient in Microsoft Office. - Familiarity with Lean or continuous improvement practices preferred. - Technical degree or relevant professional experience in manufacturing, engineering, or operations. Working Conditions: - Willingness to work flexibly, including outside of standard hours as required during the ramp-up phase. - Balance of hands-on shopfloor presence and administrative/strategic responsibilities. - Ability to travel occasionally as needed for training or supplier visits.
