Role Purpose(s) The Senior Lead Systems Engineer is responsible for the overall planning, implementation, and maintenance of an organization's technology infrastructure. This role involves managing hardware, software, networks, and security to ensure systems are reliable, secure, and scalable. Key Accountabilities This is a lead role covering: designing, implementing, and maintaining complex systems and infrastructure within an organization. They handle system architecture, integration, and performance optimization, and often lead or mentor junior engineers. Job Responsibilities & Duties Planning and Design: Design and execute long-term plans to ensure the infrastructure meets the company's needs. Establish strategic direction for operating systems. Prioritize maintenance, design, and development of infrastructure systems (LANs, WANs, etc.) Infrastructure Management: Lead and manage direct reports towards achievement of common goals. Coach, develop and counsel subordinates. Review reports and identify opportunities to improve infra management Guide staff on Infrastructure management skills, system analysis and design and programming. Provides technical and business application advice to customers (internal and/or external) in Infra management. Establish and maintain good business relationships with stakeholders to influence and achieve business goals. Implementation and Maintenance: Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware, software, and network systems. Manage servers, data centers, and operating systems. Ensure the availability and performance of critical IT services. Maintain activity logs and documentation of network changes. Support cross-functional project teams to provide pre-sales and post-implementation support. Network Management: Design and configure network infrastructure, including topologies, addressing schemes, and security measures. Implement and oversee security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls. Monitor network performance and optimize configurations. Plan for scalability to accommodate future growth. Security Management: Implement and maintain security policies and procedures. Ensure the security of the infrastructure against cyber threats. Budget and Resource Management: Develop and manage the budget for infrastructure operations. Manage and mitigate risks associated with the infrastructure. Team Management: Managing the day-to-day operational and Projects tasks within the IT Infrastructure team. Supervise technical support teams and other infrastructure professionals. Provide guidance and training to team members. Problem Solving: Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to infrastructure systems. Ensure business continuity through disaster recovery plans. Manage and resolve incidents quickly to minimize downtime. Reporting and Communication: Generate performance reports for operating systems and the Service Desk. Communicate infrastructure status and issues to stakeholders. Vendor Management: Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and service providers. Negotiate contracts and ensure compliance with service level agreements (SLAs). Key Job Competencies Results Oriented Continuous Improvement Resilience Learning Agility Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering or equivalent 5+ years of experience in systems engineering or a related field, often including experience in a lead or senior role.
