Job Description

Key Responsibilities: Leadership & Team Management: Lead, grow, and mentor a team of Software Engineers in Test (SETs), Automation Engineers, and Release Managers Define quality goals and KPIs across web and mobile platforms; report on testing, release velocity, and CI/CD health Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvementMobile & Web Automation Ownership: Architect and oversee test automation frameworks for React Native mobile apps and React web apps Guide the team in writing and maintaining UI, API, and end-to-end automated tests using tools such as: Mobile: Appium, Detox, React Native Testing Library Web: WebDriverIO, Cypress, Selenium API: Postman, RestAssured Ensure test coverage, stability, and performance across CI/CD pipelinesRelease Engineering & Management: Own the end-to-end app release lifecycle for iOS and Android, including signing, certification, staging, store submission, and phased rollout Manage deployments for web applications, ensuring zero-downtime releases and version control Oversee beta testing and release validation via tools like TestFlight, App Center, or similar platformsCI/CD Pipeline Ownership: Design and maintain robust, scalable CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Bitrise, Jenkins, or equivalent platforms Integrate automated testing, static code analysis, and release gating into CI/CD workflows Partner with DevOps to ensure pipeline efficiency, monitoring, and alerting Drive infrastructure-as-code practices using tools like Ansible, Terraform, and DockerGeneral: Ensure the quality and integrity of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for their team and identify opportunities for improvement in how the team works, through usage of recommended tools and practices Solve highly complex issues by applying sound technical approaches Set the team’s objectives and key results in collaboration with stakeholders Communicate context to the team, and set clear expectations Promote a culture of inclusion and diversity, encouraging and advancing Best Buy’s values Understand and evaluate the consequences and risks of changes Design and build solutions with impacts across multiple teams Participate in code and architecture reviews of the team’s product Discuss trade-offs when making decisions on solutions Keep your team focused on quality and regular releases Participate in production support along with their team Apply in-depth understanding of your domain, and be knowledgeable about related domains Provide technical guidance on issues that span multiple projects Evaluate and recommend libraries and frameworks that help with development Research new technologies to stay current with industry trends and standards Manage individual performance through regular 1:1s, coaching, mentoring, and encouragement of development plans Set tactical team goals in service of larger organizational strategic goals Maintain and influence relationships with stakeholders Evaluate talent gaps within the team, and help with interviewing and hiringRequirements: 10+ years of relevant professional experience with a bachelor’s degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience. Including: 2+ years of experience managing and leading engineering teams 5+ years of proven expertise in defining end-to-end test strategies , test plans (across mobile, backend and web platforms) for high-traffic customer-facing applications , making strategic test trade-offs for time-critical releases 3+ years expertise in effective metrics calculation, reporting around quality for leadership consumption 5+ years of experience with mobile platforms (Android/iOS), build systems (Gradle, Xcode, CocoaPods), and automation tools (Appium, Fastlane) 5+ years of experience with automation testing technologies like Selenium, Detox, Jest, Mocha, etc. 2+ years of experience with cloud-based CI/CD platforms like Jenkins, GitHub Actions for mobile apps 3+ years of hands-on experience with App Store Connect, Google Play Console, and mobile CI/CD workflows 1+ years of hands-on experience with OTA update systems (e.g., Microsoft CodePush, Expo OTA, etc.) 1+ years of experience working with Git, release branches, version control, and automated build tools Strong technical background in mobile and web test automation, release engineering, and CI/CD pipelines Strong technical knowledge of React Native and React testing strategies Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and deliver high-quality apps at scale Strong project management, stakeholder communication, and coordination skills Excellent communication skills with a track record of building and managing high-performing teams Solid experience with Git-based version control systems and branching strategiesPreferred: Experience managing binary artifact repositories (e.g., Artifactory, App Center) Exposure to mobile analytics, crash reporting, and monitoring tools (e.g., Firebase, Crashlytics, Sentry) 2+ years of working knowledge cloud devices and phyical lab set up 1+ year of prior exposure to AI-driven or low-code test automation platforms (e.g., Testim, Mabl, Functionize, Katalon) and understanding of their applicability in large-scale, enterprise-grade testing environments 1+ year of experience in the regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, SOC2) around customer data for mobile and web application 1+ year of experience in designing or advocating mocking and service virtualization frameworks to enable isolated, fast, and reliable test environments (e.g., using tools like WireMock, MSW, MockServer, or custom-built frameworks). Proficiency in scripting languages such as Shell, Python, Groovy, Ruby, or Perl.
