Job Title Senior Engineer - Water ResourcesJob DescriptionRole Summary WSP is seeking aSenior Water Resources Engineerto join our large and growing technical support team inBengaluru , as part of ourGlobal Capability Centre – India (GCC-IN) Mining Specialist Team . The role involves close collaboration with our global Mining team. The successful applicant will undertake specialized analyses and studies related tohydrology and hydrotechnical engineeringforinternational mining water projects , under the direction of a global team of mining, geotechnical, and civil engineering professionals. The selected candidate will report to theMining Team Leader , contributing to the delivery of the highest standards of technical work. This position is a delivery-focused role with no direct client interaction, supporting the execution of mining projects led by WSP's global offices. Technical responsibilities will include conducting hydrotechnical studies, analyzing data, and preparing technical inputs for project reports related to mine water management. Key Responsibilities The successful applicant will be responsible for: Leading and managing comprehensive water resource management studies for mining projects, from conceptual design through to implementation and optimization. Utilizing advanced modeling and simulation tools to assess water-related risks and evaluate mitigation strategies, enabling data-driven decision-making for global project teams. Evaluating tailings dam integrity, including dam break scenario modeling using computer-aided simulation tools. Conducting hydrological studies involving desk-based research, conceptual and analytical assessments, numerical modeling, and uncertainty analysis for input and output data. Performing storm analysis, hydraulic computations, and 1D/2D hydraulic simulations to estimate flood risks and support flood mitigation planning. Leading the design of mine water management infrastructure, from feasibility studies to detailed civil engineering design stages. Providing technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers within the GCC-IN team, fostering professional development and contributing to knowledge sharing. Preparing detailed technical reports, documentation, and presentations to support global project teams. Supporting project management responsibilities such as report and proposal preparation, team coordination, and technical oversight. Key Competencies Mandatory Skills Demonstrated experience in flood-related studies for environmental assessments and infrastructure design, with a strong focus onMining, Water, and Urban Development sectors . Minimum10 years of professional experiencein water resources engineering. Strong knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, and water quality modeling practices. Familiarity withInternational guidelinesis preferred. Proficiency in hydrology and hydraulic modeling software such asTUFLOW, ICM, HEC-RAS , and GIS tools (e.g.,QGIS ). Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with proven ability to apply them to international water resource challenges. Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with diverse, multidisciplinary global teams. Desired Skills Proven track record of successfully delivering water-related projects on schedule and within budget. Experience in meeting the technical and programmatic needs of international clients and projects. Recognized technical expertise in civil/water resources engineering, ideally with experience supporting mining operations outside of India. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams of water resources engineers in a remote support model. Capacity to challenge conventional approaches and introduce innovation in day-to-day technical work. Qualifications Master’s or Ph.D. degree inWater Resources Engineeringor a related discipline (preferred). Minimum of10 years of professional experiencein water resources engineering.
