Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Forming Simulation Engineer with 5-9 years of expertise to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for performing sheet metal forming simulations using Autoform software to support the design, optimization, and manufacturing processes of automotive components. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the forming process, coupled with excellent technical skills to identify issues and propose solutions that improve product quality and manufacturing efficiency. Key Responsibilities: · Perform and analyze sheet metal forming simulations using Autoform software, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the design process. · Conduct simulations to optimize part geometry, tooling, and process parameters for stamping and forming operations. · Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to provide feedback on the manufacturability of parts and suggest design modifications to reduce production costs and improve performance. · Analyze forming-related issues, including springback, thinning, wrinkling, and cracking, and propose solutions to mitigate these issues. · Support the creation of process flow charts, material selection, and the development of tool specifications. · Strong expertise in nesting to optimize material usage and reduce scrap, coupled with knowledge of cost calculation methods in sheet metal manufacturing. · Ensure that simulation results align with actual production capabilities, offering recommendations to resolve discrepancies. · Provide technical support during the prototype and testing phases. · Assist in the selection and implementation of new simulation technologies and software updates. · Prepare detailed reports and presentations summarizing findings, recommendations, and simulation results for internal and external stakeholders. · Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the simulation and design process. Requirements: · Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. · 6-9 years of hands-on experience in sheet metal forming simulation using Autoform software, with strong expertise in automotive component manufacturing. · Strong understanding of sheet metal forming processes, including deep drawing, stamping, and hydroforming. · Proficiency in interpreting simulation results and applying them to improve designs and manufacturing processes. · Solid knowledge of materials, material behavior, and how they impact forming processes. · Familiarity with other simulation tools (e.g., Abaqus, LS-DYNA, etc.) is a plus. · Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical information clearly. · Strong proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, for report generation and presentation. · Ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams, with a strong attention to detail. · Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Preferred Skills: · Experience with advanced forming technologies and lightweight materials (e.g., aluminum, high-strength steels, composites). · Prior experience in automotive design and manufacturing processes. · Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, Siemens NX, AutoCAD). · Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to automotive manufacturing.
