We are seeking a skilled and motivated Snowflake FinOps Engineer to take ownership of cost governance and performance optimization across our Snowflake data platform. This position requires a blend of technical expertise in Snowflake administration and a strong understanding of FinOps practices to ensure the platform operates efficiently and cost-effectively. Location: Bengaluru, India Work Model: Hybrid (IST shift with flexibility for occasional evening meetings between 8:00 PM and 10:00 PM IST) Primary Skills: Snowflake FinOps Secondary Skills: Snowflake Administration Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement a comprehensive Snowflake cost optimization strategy aligned with business objectives. Monitor and analyze Snowflake credit consumption and storage costs, identifying key cost drivers and trends. Execute cost-saving techniques such as virtual warehouse rightsizing, query optimization, and data lifecycle management. Create and maintain dashboards and reports for cost tracking, anomaly detection, and stakeholder communication. Collaborate with engineering and analytics teams to promote cost-aware practices and efficient platform usage. Implement and maintain cost controls, alerts, and automated reporting mechanisms. Establish and enforce tagging standards for Snowflake objects to support cost attribution and resource governance. Evaluate Snowflake features and pricing models to improve platform efficiency and reduce operational expenses. Partner with finance and procurement teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and spend transparency. Stay current with Snowflake updates and best practices related to performance and cost management. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of experience in managing and administering Snowflake environments. In-depth knowledge of Snowflake architecture, performance tuning, and best practices. Proven experience implementing cost optimization strategies in Snowflake. Strong SQL proficiency and familiarity with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker. Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python) for automation purposes is preferred. Working knowledge of FinOps principles and cost governance in cloud-based environments. Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Snowflake certifications (e.g., SnowPro Core) are advantageous.
