Key Responsibilities:This role will involve engaging with railway operators, station managers, and freight rail clients, defining IoT-driven digital transformation strategies, responding to RFPs, and working with technical teams to design smart railway solutions.Client Engagement & Solution ConsultingWork with railway operators, station authorities, metro transit systems, and freight rail companies to understand their operational challenges.Define and propose IoT-driven solutions for real-time train tracking, rolling stock monitoring, railway infrastructure health, passenger flow management, and station automation.Develop use cases for predictive maintenance, real-time asset monitoring, and digital ticketing systems.Guide clients on railway IoT adoption, cybersecurity, and compliance with railway safety standards.RFP & Pre-sales SupportCollaborate with business development teams to respond to RFPs, RFIs, and client inquiries, ensuring alignment between IoT capabilities and railway business needs.Define business cases, cost-benefit analyses, and ROI models for railway IoT investments.Lead client presentations and bid defense meetings.Collaboration with Technical TeamsWork with IoT architects, software engineers, and data analysts to ensure that business requirements are effectively translated into IoT solutions.Define functional requirements, system architecture, and data flow for railway IoT applications.Support the development of proof-of-concept (PoC) projects for IoT-enabled railway solutions.Industry Research & Thought LeadershipStay updated with emerging trends in railway automation, smart stations, predictive analytics, and AI for railway operations. Represent the company at railway industry forums, smart transportation summits, and IoT in mobility conferences. Publish whitepapers, case studies, and articles on IoT in railways and stations.Must-Have CompetenciesRailway Operations & Infrastructure – Understanding of train scheduling, rolling stock maintenance, signaling systems, and track infrastructure management. Station Management & Passenger Experience – Knowledge of station automation, crowd management, digital ticketing, and smart transit solutions. Railway Safety & Regulatory Compliance – Awareness of safety standards, cybersecurity requirements, and railway compliance frameworks (e.g., FRA, IRIS, UIC, or equivalent regional regulations). Freight Rail & Cargo Logistics – Experience in rail freight operations, intermodal transport, and real-time cargo tracking. Predictive Maintenance & Asset Optimization – Understanding of condition-based monitoring, predictive analytics for rolling stock, and IoT-based maintenance strategies. Sustainability & Energy Efficiency in Railways – Exposure to electrification, smart energy solutions, and carbon footprint reduction in rail transport.Good-to-Have Competencies IoT for Smart Railways & Stations – Exposure to GPS, RFID, BLE, and sensor-based tracking for rail assets and passenger movement.Digital Twins & AI in Railways – Understanding of digital twins for train operations, track monitoring, and AI-driven predictive maintenance.Real-time Data Analytics & Predictive Insights – Experience with big data analytics, AI/ML models for demand forecasting, and route optimization.Edge & Cloud Computing – Knowledge of cloud-based railway solutions (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud IoT).Cybersecurity & IoT Compliance – Awareness of cybersecurity threats, IoT security frameworks, and data protection requirements in rail transport.Qualifications"Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Transportation Engineering, Railway Operations, Supply Chain, Business, or a related field.10+ years of experience in railway operations, station management, or freight rail logistics, with exposure to IoT solutions.Strong consulting and analytical skills, with the ability to map railway challenges to IoT-driven solutions.Experience in client-facing roles, with strong presentation and communication skills."
