Job Title: Scientist – Strain Engineering Location: Bangalore Experience Required: 2 to 8 years Industry: Biotechnology / Life Sciences About the Role We are hiring on behalf of our reputed client for an exciting opportunity as a Scientist – Strain Engineering in the field of Synthetic Biology and Microbial Genetics . The selected candidate will contribute to pioneering research and development focused on advanced metabolic engineering and molecular biology techniques, working with microbial systems such as yeast, fungi and E. coli . Key Responsibilities Work with laboratory strains (yeast, fungi and E. coli ) using aseptic techniques for culturing, maintenance, and transformation. Perform advanced molecular biology techniques, including recombinant cloning, DNA assembly, genome editing, and recombinant knockouts. Engineer microbial genomes for improved phenotypes and heterologous production of target compounds. Conduct fermentation and scale-up studies for recombinant strains. Design, implement, and characterize novel gene constructs. Perform metabolic engineering and analyze metabolic fluxes. Execute and improve SOPs and lab protocols. Generate and communicate results effectively to stakeholders. Drive process improvements in strain development. Maintain laboratory equipment, data, and records according to specifications. Required Qualifications M.Sc. or Ph.D. in Biotechnology, Synthetic Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related field. 2–8 years of relevant experience in academic, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology settings. Proven experience in metabolic pathway engineering for yeast and bacterial systems. Strong background in modern molecular biology techniques. Familiarity with metabolic pathway prediction tools is a plus. Exposure to gene circuit design, strain development, and cell engineering is desirable.
