Job Title: Assurance Senior Department: Assurance Services Reports To: Assurance Manager / Partners Summary: We are looking for an Assurance Senior to join our dynamic team at Smith + Howard. In this role, you will be responsible for providing high-quality assurance services to our clients, supporting the planning and preparation of workpapers, and identifying opportunities to add value for clients. You will demonstrate a professional interest in ensuring that our clients receive exceptional service, contributing to the firm’s reputation as a trusted advisor. Key Responsibilities: Client Service and Engagement Management: Adhere to the professional ethics of the firm and the applicable regulatory bodies, including the AICPA and the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI). Follow firm policies regarding client confidentiality and information handling. Actively contribute to providing clients with personalized, high-quality service, and be willing to go above and beyond when needed. Plan and prepare audit workpapers, including trial balance and lead sheet setup, and ensure the accuracy of client financial records. Analyze and update client financials while gaining a comprehensive understanding of their business operations. Identify areas for improvement in client processes and suggest value-added recommendations. Meet budget and realization goals and ensure that junior staff members meet their assigned targets. Review and supervise staff accountants, ensuring they meet budget goals and quality standards. Stay current on developments, pronouncements, and research relevant technical issues in the assurance field. Identify potential problem areas and client issues and propose practical solutions to Managers and Partners. Ensure that assigned chargeable hour goals are met consistently. Participate in internal training sessions to continue professional development. Pass the CPA exam if not already completed. Team Leadership and Mentoring: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff, interns, and new team members. Participate in recruiting activities to attract and hire talent for the firm. Assist in the development of training materials and deliver in-house training sessions as needed. Communication and Client Interaction: Effectively communicate with clients and internal teams to ensure smooth project execution. Serve as a primary point of contact for clients during audits and assurance engagements, addressing any concerns or queries. Document client issues and communicate potential solutions to Managers and Partners. Maintain ongoing communication with clients to ensure continued satisfaction and identify opportunities for additional services. Position Requirements: Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA license is strongly preferred. Two to five years of public accounting experience, preferably in assurance services. A solid understanding of accounting procedures, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and financial reporting standards. Technical Skills and Competencies: Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook). Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with clients and team members effectively. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Ability to work efficiently under deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. Additional Requirements: Ability to perform detailed work and analyze complex financial data. Strong client service orientation, with the ability to anticipate and address client needs. Ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively. Willingness to continue professional education and pass the CPA exam if not already completed. Working Conditions: This position operates in a professional office environment with occasional travel to client sites. Some overtime may be required during peak seasons, such as year-end audits or tax deadlines. The ability to adapt to changes in project scope or client needs is essential.
