Our client, a leading organization in finance and news and media industry, is looking for a sharp, detail-oriented Freelance News Producer with a strong background in hard news, and a proven ability to deliver compelling, accurate, and timely content. This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-energy newsroom, shape real-time news coverage and deliver impactful, engaging stories to audiences around the world. This role is based in Mumbai and the candidates are expected to be onsite. As part of a dynamic newsroom environment, in this role you will be supporting coverage during key periods when other producers are unavailable. You would be booked on an ad hoc basis generally for full days in increments of a week at a time or a couple days at a time Mon-Fri. While weekend shifts may occasionally arise, they are expected to be infrequent. Flexibility and availability at short notice will be key in this role. The ideal candidate will bring sound editorial judgment, thrive in high-pressure environments, have deep editorial instincts, and experience covering financial news, international affairs, and politics. Key Responsibilities: Monitor breaking news and swiftly coordinate coverage, including scripts, visuals, and live elements Adapt and update content across multiple platforms, including digital and social media Pitch, develop, and produce news segments and packages for digital and/or broadcast platforms Research and verify complex stories, ensuring factual accuracy and balance Coordinate interviews, gather field elements, and oversee pre- and post-production Collaborate with reporters, anchors, editors, and technical staff to shape editorial direction Requirements: 3-5 years of newsroom experience Experience working with video and other visual elements Strong news judgement and a passion for business and finance Excellent communication skills Flexibility with hours and availability Good to have: Field production experience Familiarity with market data, economic indicators, and financial institutions Experience coordinating live news coverage across time zones Multilingual capabilities Proficiency with ENPS is required. Familiarity with ENPS and other newsroom rundown software such as iNews is a strong plus.
