Job Description

To ensure the uninterrupted, safe, and efficient operation of all branded sugar packaging and handling machines, implement preventive maintenance plans, address breakdowns promptly, and provide equipment uptime. The role is critical in maintaining machine reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting production targets.Key Responsibilities:Preventive & Breakdown Maintenance Develop and execute preventive maintenance schedules for all key packaging equipment includingGrader, Sifter, FSS machines, Vibro units, SS Pulverizer machines, FBD dryers, Multihead packaging machines, Auger filling machines, and Multi-tracker sachet machines . Conduct timely troubleshooting and attend to breakdowns to minimize downtime and ensure smooth packaging operations. Maintain detailed logs of all maintenance activities, machine histories, and repair actions for future reference and audits. Technical Oversight & Troubleshooting Lead fault diagnosis acrossmechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation systemsin packaging lines. Liaise with OEMs or vendors for complex repairs, specialized components, or service support. Perform root cause analysis (RCA) on repetitive failures and develop corrective and preventive measures (CAPA). Inventory & Spare Parts Management Maintain adequate inventory of critical spares and consumables specific to packaging machines (e.g., sealing jaws, sensors, PLC modules, servo motors). Track consumption trends and raise timely requisitions to prevent stockouts. Ensure organized tagging, storage, and traceability of spares and components. Team Supervision & Safety Supervise and mentor in-house technicians and contract staff engaged in the maintenance of packaging equipment. Enforce adherence tosafety protocolsduring maintenance, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), PPE usage, and equipment isolation procedures. Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety training to reinforce best practices. Continuous Improvement Monitor key performance indicators such asMachine Uptime, Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), and Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) . Recommend and implement machine upgrades or design modifications to enhancereliability, safety, and energy efficiency . Champion5S, TPM, and lean maintenance practiceswithin the packaging area to promote operational excellence.Key Requirements: B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering. 8-10 years of relevant experience in the maintenance of packaging machinery, preferably in FMCG, food processing, or sugar industry. Hands-on experience in VFFS machines, pouch/bag filling & sealing, coding/marking systems, conveyors, stitchers, and labelling equipment. Knowledge of basic automation, PLC systems, and electrical panels is desirable.
