Qualification - BE/BTech/MCA only Location – Mumbai Banking domain is must Working week – 5 days with alternate Saturdays working from client location as per Bank norms Notice Period: Immediate to 30 Days Job Title: Senior Kafka Platform Technical Lead – BFSI Domain Location: Mumbai, India Experience: 7 to 14 Years Kafka Experience: Minimum 3+ Years hands-on experience Industry Domain: Mandatory experience in Banking, Financial Services, or Insurance (BFSI) Job Summary: We are looking for a highly experienced and motivated Senior Kafka Platform technical Lead to join our core platform team in Mumbai . The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in building and managing Apache Kafka ecosystems with a strong grasp of Zookeeper , KRaft , Docker , Shell scripting , Linux administration , and Java/JVM tuning . The candidate must have at least 3 years of hands-on Kafka experience within the Banking or BFSI domain . Key Responsibilities: Design, deploy, and manage high-throughput and resilient Kafka clusters in production environments. Lead Kafka cluster management including installation, configuration, upgrades, and performance tuning. Support Kafka architecture evolution from Zookeeper to KRaft mode . Configure and manage Kafka components : brokers, producers, consumers, topics, partitions, replication, schema registry, and connectors. Develop automation scripts using Shell/Bash to support operational efficiencies and reliability. Manage and deploy Kafka components using Docker and container orchestration best practices. Work closely with application developers to support Kafka integration , capacity planning, and throughput optimization. Monitor system health and ensure uptime, availability, and performance of Kafka platforms. Tune and monitor Java-based microservices with focus on JVM performance (GC, heap, thread, and CPU profiling) . Create and maintain detailed operational documentation, runbooks, and knowledge base. Technical Skills: Mandatory: Kafka (Apache/Confluent) – Strong production experience (minimum 3+ years) Zookeeper and KRaft (Kafka Raft Mode) – Deep knowledge of coordination layers and migration strategies Linux Administration – Hands-on with system performance tuning, process monitoring, and file systems Shell Scripting – Proficiency in Bash for automation and log analysis Docker – Containerizing Kafka services, managing container lifecycles Java – Experience developing/debugging JVM-based applications JVM Tuning – Proficient in analyzing garbage collection (GC), heap sizing, and thread dump analysis Preferred/Nice to Have: Experience with Confluent Platform (Connect, KSQL, Control Center) Understanding of Kafka security (SSL, SASL, ACLs) Familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, etc.) Experience in CI/CD pipelines using Git, Jenkins, Ansible, etc. Cloud platforms: Kafka on AWS/MSK, Azure, or GCP
