Job Description

Reporting to the Head of Finance, Group Financial Controller this position will work closely with the regional Finance team to lead and manage multiple operations of the tax practice area and to deliver quality tax services, that will increase Blueleaf Energy reputation. In addition, this position develops tax strategies and policies that help the business to maintain compliance with local and federal tax laws and regulations across BLE’s footprint in Asia. Job Responsibilities Tax Compliance Oversee and manage all aspects of Indirect Tax filings, Income Tax, Business & Property Tax for Blueleaf Group, through effective partnership and selection of tax agents (mix of Big 4 and local firms) Implement an appropriate framework that ensures accurate, timely preparation and filing of monthly Tax returns for multiple jurisdictions in partnership with external tax advisors / agents Manage and supervise Income Tax reporting by supporting data requests for estimated payments and Annual filing with tax advisors / agents Own the quarterly tax provision calculations and relevant financial statement disclosures Monitor changes in indirect tax laws and regulations through appropriate engagement with appointed tax agents, ensuring ongoing compliance Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather necessary data for tax reporting Review and reconcile tax accounts and resolve discrepancies Monitor and ensure adherence to internal tax policies and procedures Providing innovative tax planning and reviewing mechanisms for complex income tax returns Conduct internal tax reviews and assessments to identify areas for improvement Tax Strategy Provide recommendations for tax planning and structuring, considering GST, WHT and income tax implications, as well as relevant Equity and/or turnover levels that may influence relevant tax rates Provide guidance on GST/VAT tax issues related to product and service offerings in each tax jurisdiction Identify potential tax risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize exposure Advise on the implications of business decisions on tax liabilities and risks Own the global Transfer Pricing framework and methodology, ensuring contemporaneous documentation is kept up to date, and the TP model and charges are taken up on a timely and defensible basis Tax Audits and Investigations Act as the primary point of contact for tax audits and inquiries in all jurisdictions Respond to tax audits, inquiries, and investigations from tax authorities Prepare documentation, communicate with auditors, and resolve tax-related issues to ensure favourable outcomes Develop and implement strategies to minimize audit exposure Qualifications and Experience Qualified Chartered Accountant A robust background in public accounting with at least 4 years of specific tax experience and 6-8 years of aggregate working experience Demonstrated ability to assess/size an in-house tax function that is commensurate to the Company’s needs High proficiency with tax, accounting, and office software Expertise in tax code, compliance and procedures with business clients Experience working in the energy, power, utilities, industrial sector, with a good understanding of project life cycle from development, execution and to asset management an added advantage Blueleaf Energy is an equal opportunity employer.
